Post Office credit card - docs needed

in Credit cards
I am applying for a Post Office credit card and they seem to need an awful lot of documentation.
Driving licence.
Water / council tax bill.
One month's bank statements or three month's building society statements.
Payslip.
It's been a while since I have applied for a credit card, so maybe this is normal now.
But I only have one month's building society statements. Can I print them off from my internet banking and use them? I'm also not sure why if you bank with a bank, they only need one month, but it's different for a building society.

Yes, they go completely over the top. It's the Bank of Ireland that's doing it - they provide the service to the Post Office. So if you apply for an AA card you will be up against similar stupidity; they service them as well. The problem has been raised on this board many times recently.
My advice is to abandon the application. I recently opened a card with Bank of Scotland and there was no need to provide any documentation whatsoever; and it was fee-free balance transfer.0 -

Well I have everything (save for the paper 3 months building society statements) and I work for a solicitor who will certify copies of them. It does seem like a bit of a faff though.
I'm doing it for the 27 month 0% on purchases, not to do a balance transfer.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

All very well, but on principle, as customers we shouldn't have to put up with this nonsense. Unless companies that try to impose this sort of stuff lose a significant amount of business as a result, they'll carry on regardless.0 -

True, but I suppose from their point of view, it's making sure you can afford it. And if they make it harder to get a card, then it might make people think twice about whether they actually need one instead of just going out and getting five.
But.. I digress. Will they accept the printouts from Nationwide from my internet banking or does it have to be paper copies?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Well I have a Post Office credit card and never needed to provide all that documentation. I wonder if the person applying isn't on the electoral role or has recently moved house or there's some other reason why they are being asked to provide all that, which would happen if they applied for a credit card with someone else as well.0 -
I've had loads of different credit cards and have lived at the same address for years. I had this silliness too from the Post Office and when I read all the reviews of their dreadful customer service I discontinued my application too. They must be losing hundreds of potentially very good customers.0

I recently got a PO matched card - didn't have to provide any documents.0

I filled in everything I needed and provided certified copies of:-
Driving Licence
Council tax bill
3 months building society statements
Payslip
and I'm still waiting to hear back. Does it normally take this long?
I am what most companies would deem the perfect customer. Mortgage for 10 years, been in my job over 12 years, always pay my credit card in full on time (I only want another one as the 0% on purchases ran out) and nothing bad on my credit score at all.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Yeah, that's why people on this thread (and many others) had been warning you re PO credit card application. Anyway, good luck with this, you might as well wait for the reply as you have already submitted the application.0 -
Took them 4 months to tell me they didn't want me after sending lots of docs back, in the end made an official compliant and have now got a financial settlement I'm happy with. They did say I could appeal but I have a RBS rewards card now that works well for me.
