Good shout too, Pete.
EHIC does not replace 'proper' travel insurance.0 -

Well hot to me having not been abroad before would probably be the peak of our summer times. Doesn't have to be constant heat, but I hear it's less humid abroad where here in England heat can be stuffy.
Thanks for all the replies. I'll order 2 of those cards for me and other half.
Spain, Canary Islands, Fuerteventura, Corralejo
SunConnect Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura
I've found this place, it's adding up too be £1,098.16. This includes 7 nights all inclusive, £48 for the silver travel insurance, £38 to choose seats, 15kg luggage, flights and transfers.
It asks if we would like to book taxi transfer instead of coach but this costs an extra £100. Is a coach stressful/hard abroad? I'm not sure that I mind a coach especially if a taxi is that price. So how will I find the coach when we've arrived that side and make our way out the airport?
It's the first week of June, and trip adviser has many good reviews ..
Excellent 1,335
Very good 1,423
Average 500
Poor 174
Terrible 83
I think that's covered everything, but if I'm missing anything please let me know! Is the 15kg luggage each or for both, and can I take a bag on the plane (handbag) or does this need paying for.
Thanks guys much appreciated!0 -

Re transfer: I wouldn't pay 10% of a holiday price just to upgrade to a taxi from a bus.
The transfer coaches I've experienced (mainly in Greece & Turkey) have been comfortable enough.
How far is the resort from the airport?
On package holidays, there's usually reps waiting to greet you when you come out of the airport and they'll direct you to the coach. holidays.
Is this a 'proper' package or a dynamic package?
15kg hold luggage will be per person.
Hand luggage is usually included, depending on the airline you might get differing size bags & weight and with some airlines you may also get to take a handbag too.
So it depends who you're flying with.0 -

Thanks. This is from the Thomas cook website under 'hotel and flight' so the baggage and return transfers are included in price then I add on the insurance to get the price above.
It says 45minutes for airport transport so not a great deal of time only problem is it's a late flight so kind of lose a whole day. We would arrive at the airport at 17:20 then I guess the hotel for 18:30/19:00 assuming everything runs on time.
I'll take a look at the link once I'm back from the school run, thank you0 -
If you fancy Greece and you like beaches then I'd recommend Skiathos. It's a very small island, wonderfully green with some of the best beaches in Greece - I think it has more than 60. It's easy to get around, all the resorts are on the south side of the island and there's a single bus route which links them all at numbered bus stops. There are many walking trails, all signposted, where you can wander through pine forests and hillside trails. There's a book you can buy with walk descriptions. If you want to explore the north side you'd need a car but, to be honest, there's more than enough to occupy you for a week using the bus. The food's great and the people warm and welcoming. We liked it so much we went three times in quick succession, once in May and twice in the summer months.
The self-catering accommodation in Greece can be a bit basic but as long as you're prepared for that it's not a problem. The airport is no more than about half an hour from anywhere, in fact you can walk into Skiathos town from the airport if you're so inclined.
Check out the Skiathos forum on tripadvisor - in fact, check out the tripadvisor forums wherever you decide to shortlist - you'll get much useful information on resorts, accommodation, restaurants and 'things to do' and it should easily fit your budget. Like boat trips? You can easily visit Skopelos and Alonissos. If you go anywhere all-inclusive you miss out on the simple pleasure of exploring the local eateries - I wouldn't do it just because you think it might be 'more convenient' or 'less hassle'. Enjoy your planning and have a great holiday. Here's a link to the Skiathos forum.

45 minutes driving time for the bus sounds about right, what adds the time is waiting for all the passengers to board and hoping there aren't too many drop offs before your hotel, I'd budget for getting to the hotel around 20:00
You can rent a car for the week for around £65 from one of the local companies - Payless, Autoreisen, CiCar all have desks in the baggage hall so whilst one of you is waiting for your bags, the other is sorting the car.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
As this is your first holiday together I would be looking at a package tour.
We book with Jet2 from Leeds/Bradford. I have just had a look and for £538 you can get a week in Stalis on the island of Crete leaving on the 21/05/16. This will leave you with plenty of spending money.
The weather will be fine at the end of the month with temps in the mid to high 20's.
Plenty of restaurants and bars to entertain yourselves in during the evenings.
Nice beach for topping up a tan.
Reasonably quiet and safe so no problems with rowdies late at night.
Don't even think of AI in Greece. Its killing the local economiesMags - who loves shopping0
