How do people cope with being poorly like this alone?
You muddle through is about the best way to describe it. I had something with the same symptoms as you describe about six Christmases back, I stocked up with stuff at the supermarket and turned into a hermit (more so than usual, I mean) for a week.

It took nearly a month for the main symptom to entirely disappear, but I was back at work long before that.

If I were to become incapable, it would be days before someone realised and found me, work would be the first to notice I guess, then emergency services would have to break in.

  • I had Norovirus a couple of weeks ago, I am NOT a good patient. It makes me depressed very quickly when Im poorly, I just don't cope with it at all. I absolutely hated having to run to the bathroom every 2 hours, thinking my partner could hear the carnage! My dog stayed in bed with me for 16 hours before he needed to get up for a wee, he snored his head off for a whole 16 hours. Amazing. He's only a chihuahua his bladder must be tiny!!

When I felt like I could, I shuffled downstairs and got an ice lolly. The cold will feel amazing in your dehydrated mouth, so that's what I would recommend!!
