(((((Hugs)))). I tend to want to be on my own when i'm ill. If i'm ill i am grumpy so i tend to shut myself in the bedroom and shut the door. Anyone who walks in to ask me something usually gets their head bitten off.

    Hope you feel better soon.

I think that's the problem with me. I'm a rubbish patient. I get all needy. And want people around me. Now I'm alone and this is the first time this has happened to me, it's made me sad.

When I was on my own I put my back out , after a couple of days I had to get milk and bread back couldn't get socks or shoes on as I couldn't reach my feet . Had to shuffle up to tescos in my slippers like an old man but when I look back now it makes me chuckle

Things feel bad today but it will fade with time

Oh the joy of being ill and alone, I'm not being sarky. Don't get me wrong I adore my family and appreciate their concern but just like Greta Garbo " I want to be alone." I want time to wallow in self pity my O.H is the opposite he wants everyone to know how ill he is.

    Get well soon O.P.
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.
  • I'm not single but hate being alone when I'm ill (have low level hypochondria so ALWAYS assume it's life threatening whatever I have). I had glandular fever in May 2015 and my partner had to go to work, obviously. It was so frightening and I kept imagining my throat was closing and I was going to die.

I slept, tried to take sips of water and pain relief and just felt frightened until it started to ease. If you feel as I do I don't think there's anything to do but ride it out. Things are rarely as bad as we imagine.

I hope you recover soon x

I would rather be alone than have an audience, no matter how small, when running to the loo, tossing and turning in the bed, etc

Agree with the advice above, a few sports bottles, one with iced water, one with flat coke, dont think about eating yet.

Tv or radio if you can bear it, shower or bath if you can face it, clean PJ's and enjoy your own company

    Get well soon

I have often wondered how mums cope when they're feeling horribly unwell and need rest. I don't remember my own mum ever getting more than a cold, to be honest! I suppose you just have to cope as best you can, but you really need to rest if you're being sick and suffering muscle pain, etc

I'm on my own and you've just got to get on with things, although i don't often feel that sick. I don't know if it were last year or the year before, that for a couple of weeks i could hardly get up off the couch, even to get to the loo was an effort. And i couldn't eat or drink.
One of the things i thought about while i was lying there waiting to die was, I'd been thinking about getting myself a dog, and i thought if i had, or even if i did, what would happen to the poor Bengo.

why would you poison yourself with 'flat coke' for heaven's sake !

Sugar water is best, Pint jug of hot water, dissolve in as much sugar as it will take, a spoonful at a time. Allow to cool.
When you feel ready for a bit of food, try bread and honey, maximum energy and goodness for minimum effort.

Sorry, but that sounds absolutely awful!
