You can't see the reservoirs they are waxed in on the models and as they are around .5mm wide across the front of the tooth they can't be seen. The trays should finish at the gum line and are sealed against the teeth to minimise the gel leaching out.

The gel loses strength after a couple of hours so most advise do not wear overnight but wear for a couple of hours in the evening. It stops the gel leaching out as it does when you are lying flat.

These were professional trays from a top celebrity dentist who whitens for WAGS so should be well practised!.

Yes - but once you hand the kit over to the patient, it's down to them and their dexterity. :)

It's not really difficult (WAGS can do it!!) but there are some - shall we say 'less than dexterous' patients out there who really can struggle!

I generally use a syringe of old stock to give the patient a feel of how to do it before I let them go.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I used Mr Blanc before my wedding (16-17 quid on ebay please check out seller feedback before you buy) and they worked a treat. On the other hand I paid 60 quid for 2 sessions to get my teeth whitened and it was rubbish!

You get a 2 week supply and I did about 7 strips leaving a days gap in between...even did one on the morning of my wedding with great results. Just be careful about using them everyday because you might be sensitive. I bought the Crest ones and tried them and they made my teeth and head ache for ages. The Mr Blanc ones are alot less harsh.

I just use Pearl Drops. I don't look in the mirror and see that much difference, but my boyfriend occasionally comments and says my teeth look nice and white :-)
I don't drink or smoke though so that may help.

Have bought awful kits online in the past when I was younger. Waste of money and time.

here are the ingredients for Mr blanc strips

    Ingredients
    Glycerin 68.10%
    Aqua 20.00%
    Cellulose Gum 10.00%
    Sodium Chlorite 1.00%
    EDTA 0.50%
    Citric Acid 0.20%
    D, L-Menthol 0.20%

Glycerin is basically the jelly like stuff on the strips , it does nothing. Aqua is water! Cellulose gum is basically sticky stuff , it does nothing, sodium chlorite is basically salt, edta is basically a cleaner , citric acid is a fruit acid which will combine with sodium chlorite to produce chlorine dioxide which is an acid cleaner normally used to clean swimming pools. When used on enamel it can dissolve it away http://lindagreenwall.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Chlorine-Dioxide_Jul08.pdf

Do not use these if you value your teeth, chlorine dioxide has also been responsible for permanent lung damage in one lady who had her teeth whitened with it.

Menthol is basically peppermint flavouring. So you are paying alot of money to dissolve your teeth with swimming pool cleaner.

It is illegal to sell crest strips in the UK as theyhave many hundreds of times the legal limit of hydrogen peroxide. So you are buying illegal strips with goodness knows what in them from people who are knowingly breaking the law.

Pearl drops have the highest abrasive content of any tooth cleaner. In other words they do not whiten teeth they just rub stain off. What rubs stain off will also rub enamel away . Avoid or use very sparingly if you have heavy tobacco staining. Best used for cleaning bathroom grouting.

I had enlighten whitening at my dentist was £190 if you were a member of the practice plan which gives you 2 check ups and 2 hygienist appts per year _ discount on other treatment

It is supposed to guarantee b1 shade
I thought it was ok but the effects fade after 1 month. I do not drink tea or coffee.

so you need to top up with a bleach every now and again.

trays did have reservoir at the side but the stuff foams up a bit. I was advised to wear overnight and found it horrid even after getting my top tray remade. very sore throat

so if you do it for the wedding don't do it more than a month away
  • So I'm getting married in July and I had initially planned on getting my teeth whitening at my dentist.. However found out the price was £500 so I'm very reluctant now as I don't have that kind of money!

I have read some posts on an old thread here, over 10 years old about recommendations without going to the dentist but wanted some more up to date posts lol

I wouldn't buy anything or chemicals off eBay or things like that, and I do brush my teeth twice a day.. So if there's any tips anyone has I would appreciate it!

Congratulation on your wedding. One of my friends had done teeth whitening from Clearbrook Dental clinic in Oshawa, Canada. She said the cost was affordable for her. I think the cost varies depending on the region and the dentist. It's better you talk with another dentist in your locality. Or you could use activated charcoal to whiten your teeth. I have tried it and had seen a great result. But when I talked with my dentist about this, he didn't encourage me. He said we should use only well-tested products for our teeth. You can rub your teeth with fresh orange peel, it will help you to have white color teeth, but it takes time to show the result.

I have tried whitening my teeth at home but it did not work for me as i didn't get the desired result. I did everything possible under the sun then finally i visited a dentist to get the whitening treatment done and it's almost 3 years now. I am glad that i can now smile broad unlike those days where i had to hide my yellow teeth.
  • I have white teeth and I am in my fifties. What I use is salt or bicarb to get rid of stains and i brush with hydrogen peroxide once a week. You can buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the chemist for a couple of quid, which is basically what the dentist uses anyway. I use 6%, but I think they recommend 3% so I would maybe do your own homework, but I promise it will get your teeth white.
