Teeth whitening recommendations?

So I'm getting married in July and I had initially planned on getting my teeth whitening at my dentist.. However found out the price was £500 so I'm very reluctant now as I don't have that kind of money!
I have read some posts on an old thread here, over 10 years old about recommendations without going to the dentist but wanted some more up to date posts lol
I wouldn't buy anything or chemicals off eBay or things like that, and I do brush my teeth twice a day.. So if there's any tips anyone has I would appreciate it!

Look at the websites of other dentists in your area and see if any are doing offers. There are different types of whitening and my dentists did trays and gel (enough to ladt around 10 days) for around £250.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

There is no toothpaste, kit etc you can legally buy which will whiten teeth.
Ditto no one other than a dentist (or hygienist/therapist working to a dentists prescription ) can legally whiten teeth.
If you have stains from tea, coffee etc a session with a hygienist will cost around £40 and will get rid of those and tartar .0 -
I really like the crest white strips. I initially got a relative to bring some over for me from America but now just order them online.0

Amazon deals does a lot of whitening offers. About £80 last time I saw them.0

These are illegal to sell anywhere in the EU because they contain hundreds of times above the legal limit of hydrogen peroxide.
If you buy them them are buying from people who are knowingly breaking the law.
In other words you will be putting chemicals inside your body purchased from criminals.
What chance is there that these strips will be counterfeit or even contain chemicals other than what they are supposed to as there is no legitimate way to import crest strips into the UK?0 -

It is utterly illegal to sell anything to the public which contains sufficient concentration of hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth.
So at best these kits will be useless , at worst they will be illegal. Which , the consumer organisation, has campaigned for years for e bay and Amazon to stop the sale of illegal teeth whitening kits http://www.theguardian.com/money/2010/aug/20/illegal-tooth-whitening-online0 -
If you can't find a proper dentist to do it at a price you can afford (There will be quite a few cheaper that £500) But avoid things like Groupon offers), then just ask your photographer to photoshop the pictures.
Much much much safer than some of the crud you could buy online, or letting a beautician with a whole Saturday's training course behind her/him loose on your teeth. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I have tried the Mr Blanc strips, legal and non peroxide. You uses them every day and I did see a big difference. Not sure how long lasting they are as I didn't do the full set but will definitely use them again, perhaps in the run up to an occasion. Also no sensitivity, which I've had from teeth whitening gel. It's £20 off beautybay0

These are the ingredients for these strips
Ingredients
Glycerin 68.10%
Aqua 20.00%
Cellulose Gum 10.00%
Sodium Chlorite 1.00%
EDTA 0.50%
Citric Acid 0.20%
D, L-Menthol 0.20%
Glycerin is basically the jelly like stuff on the strips , it does nothing. Aqua is water! Cellulose gum is basically sticky stuff , it does nothing, sodium chlorite is basically salt, edta is basically a cleaner , citric acid is a fruit acid which will combine with sodium chlorite to produce chlorine dioxide which is an acid cleaner normally used to clean swimming pools. When used on enamel it can dissolve it away http://lindagreenwall.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Chlorine-Dioxide_Jul08.pdf
Do not use these if you value your teeth, chlorine dioxide has also been responsible for permanent lung damage in one lady who had her teeth whitened with it.
Menthol is basically peppermint flavouring. So you are paying alot of money to dissolve your teeth with swimming pool cleaner.0 -
Yes, I heard if you use those white strips over the counter often, your teeth and gums will get sensitive and It'll start to hurt when you brush your teeth! DON'T use them!0
