New 4K TV would really demand new Bluray player and at least a new PVR to replace the VHS. Otherwise, you are just wasting money on the 4K TV.
If you want to keep your ancient equipment, just buy a normal HD TV. You will be able to buy one with scart if you look around.

You are wrong.......Why would we tell you to get rid of your cassette player? The two are completely different, the VHS content will look even worse than it ever did on a 4K TV and has no advantages over what has superseded it.
Cassettes are still a valid format. Eminem is even re-releasing the Slim Shady album on cassette. So you aren't as retro as you think....;)

Like the OP, I tried to persevere with new and old AV gear and quickly gave up for all current generation.

Not very MSE, but when everything is on HDMI it makes it convenient when you press 'play' on the BluRay and the TV and AV Receiver auto-on and select the correct inputs.
