I am considering buying a Which bets buy TV - the Samsung UE40JU6400.
However, it seems there is no SCART connection in this model.
I have a VHS player and a DVD player which both do not have HDMI connections.
Is there any way to connect these two devices to a TV without SCART and HDMI?
Thanks

We need to know exactly what connectors your DVD and VCR do have.
But yes you can convert SCART to HDMI with an adapter if you wantChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Personally, I would 'retire' a vintage DVD without HDMI and get a DVD/bluray player which will show the new 4K TV at it's best.
The old VHS you can use on composite and component inputs, it'll look pretty dire though.
However as the TV has BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5, using the VCR for timeshifting is pointless.0 -
Chuck the VHS in the bin, and buy a cheap replacement DVD player which has an HDMI connection. Example
You don't want to buy a 4K TV and use it to watch VHS tapes :eek:0 -
I use YPbPr to connect my non-HDMI DVD player to my Samsung SMART TV and the picture is just fine.

I would very politely suggest that you're going to end up with a complete mismatch of technology. Why would anyone want to buy a 4K TV to then use it to view source material that was designed for the old school fat / tube TVs? Assuming you have a DVD collection and wish to continue viewing them, I would consider buying a new DVD player to go with your TV. These are amazingly cheap compared to a few years ago. For example, you can easily pick up a Sony brand DVD player that will upscale the image quality and has HDMI output for around £40 from supermarkets. £40 is a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of the 4K TV.0

I do have a Sky box which is currently connected to the old TV via a SCART. The box also has a HDMI output.
If I use the HDMI output from the Sky box to the new TV, can I then connect the old VCR or old DVD player to the new TV through a loop via the SCART on the Sky box??

As already suggested just chuck the DVD player and VHS recorder in the bin. Connect up the Sky decoder via HDMI and consign your SCART lead to history.
A new DVD player (with HDMI) is cheap as chips in Supermarkets. For recording, consider upgrading your Sky subscription to Sky+, Sky will likely provide this free if you've been a customer with a basic decoder for a few years…
Alternatively, ditch Sky and get a Freeview or Freesat PVR for recording..0 -
