Grey man, my brother sells motorbikes as a business and he arranges credit for people who want it through a broker - he makes a significant amount of commission on the finance arrangement - he can make up to £750 commission on a £10k bike. He's always told me to stay well clear of car financing like that, which tells me enough.
I had a poor credit rating in 2010 (long story) and got a credit card which I spent on and cleared most months, or sometimes left a few quid outstanding to deliberately have some interest to pay, and made sure I paid all my other bills on time. My credit rating is now excellent on every way I've been able to check it. If you are managing your credit card well, paying your other bills on time etc. then your credit history should sort itself out, as per the advice on those forums.
My advice would be to borrow from the cheapest source you can, to fund the car you need, and don't worry about whether it will improve your credit rating etc.
  • Hi Anthony, have you bought yourself a car now? If not I may be able to help.
