O/S Daily Thread for Saturday 12th March

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all
Hubby has a cuppa as he's working today, DGD8 stayed the night and is now doing crafts, she is going to feed the fish in a sec.
I shall take hubby to work at 8, collect DD, take her to work, go to the butchers and the bakers but not the candlestick makers.
DGD and I will come home, do sewing until 11 when SIL will collect her and drop off DGD 18months and DGD5 so he can coach DGS's football team, I need to drop DGD5 at a party at 2 and collect hubby at the same time, anyone got a time machine?
I will collect DGD5 at 4 when the party finishes and SIL will collect her from me.
The WM is chugging away with DGS's uniform and PE kit in I shall hang it on the maiden to dry so it's all ready for next week.
The kitchen needs a swish and a swipe, the bathrooms need a good bottoming, I can't see much else being done but I must strip the beds and get the bedding washed & dried.
Time I got a wriggle on.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning all. A beautiful start here for the horrendously big birthday I have been dreading! 70!! It sounds so very old! Everyone says I don't look it and (most of the time!) I don't feel it but how have the years gone by so quickly?!

I have just been opening all the cards and presents that I was given yesterday and more people are calling in today. Everyone is so nice and generous. I already have some lovely gifts and am feeling very spoilt already.

The table is booked for 11 of us for tonight. We are going early (6.15) before the 2 youngest DGDs start getting tired. Then we are all going back to DDs for drinks and nibbles (in case we haven't already eaten enough!!) and party games!! Nothing like a tipsy game of Give us a Clue or Who Am I!! One of DD's friends is joining us as she calls me her second mum and wants to share my big day.

I shall have an easy day up to then. No jobs planned and no cooking to be done - we'll survive on light snacks (and, of course, cake!) and save our appetite for tonight!

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx

  • :bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:TA A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

You are now the same age as me, although I will be 71 in May. I hope you have a wonderful day, and believe me it is all in the head.

If you feel 25 in your head. then that is what you are. Lyn says she has never grown up, and I think I must be the same. My DGC call me Mad Nan, in an affectionate way, of course:):)

    Much love

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread HH.

TA - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, what a lovely occasion. Your day sounds so great, family, food and fun galore. I wish you a fabulous day, embrace it and, most of all, enjoy it.

Bright and white here, more rain forecast so the day could be a washout. I have some washing to do but that's it really. There's a bit of paperwork to sort out, nothing taxing though.

Last night I had a little nerve twitching in my right foot for ages, it kept me awake and then when I nodded off, woke me a couple of times. The twitch was quite painful and made me jump every time. Of course, it's gone now.

    Anyway - happy Saturday everyone.
  • Good morning all,

Thank you Hester for starting us off. Good gracious woman I don't know how you do it. I am sure your DGC love being with you and probably think you are mad as well :):)

I have put one coat of paint on the unit I am revamping already this morning, I was up at 6.20. Himself had a better night thank goodness, which of course means I had a better night as well.

We have to go to SM for fresh stuff, pick up an order from M&S, then come home, put everything away, put a joint of beef in the slow cooker, and hopefully put another coat of paint on the unit,
and also clean the bathroom. I can't ask Himself yet because he is still not well, but it will be fine.

Have a good day all and enjoy the lovely weather

Happy Birthday to TA have a fab day xxxx :bdaycake::bdaycake:

    Have good days all xx
  • Good Morning everyone, beautiful morning again here but a heavy frost and slight mistiness in the air. It's due to clear and be warm again which will be lovely.

Happy Birthday TA, have yourself a really good day and don't worry about the numbers when it comes to years lived to the full. I find that people who worry about the number total accumulating each birthday and start to think 'at my age I shouldn't be doing A B or C' are the ones who seem to fare the least well. To me it's just an irrelevance I'm still me on the day the number changes each year, I can still do everything I want or need to, nothing has fallen off yet, life is still sweet and lived to the full. Numbers and old age are really not in the equasion, living each and every day with as much zest and joie de vivre as we can is so much more pleasureable than worrying about wrinkles. Enjoy life petal, it's the way to being content!!!

Nothing much planned for today except a library visit and definitely another cup of coffee sat out in the sun, you can't beat that after a cold spell when you've been stuck indoors. He Who Knows is off to the allotment to cuddle his onion sets and keep digging.............it's all GOOD!!! Have yourselves a nice day all, Lyn xxx.

    Morning everyone,

Happy Birthday dear TA :bdaycake: hope you have a lovely day and enjoy your family meal.

Hester. - you exhaust me just listing everything you have to do.

Foggy here again but clearly not as cold as no frost on the grass, hope it burns off again as yesterday ended up a beautiful, sunny day and it made me feel so much better.
My ex picked up the dogs last night for the weekend, he still occasionally finds time to have them and they do get excited when they see him, however last night my little dog really hung back and had to encourage her to go with him. Not sure if it's beause she wasnt feeling so good, will text this morning and see how she is, if any worse will pick her up and get to the vets, can't take any chance with eye infections.

Did most of my chores yesterday so will have a chilled out morning, Bill and I will go out for a hack this afternoon, meeting up with a couple of others so should be fun.

Right, need my first cuppa, have a good day all xx

A very Happy Birthday to you TA. Age is but a number! Enjoy your celebrations. :bdaycake::bdaycake:

Remember to look after yourself at some time HH.

It's raining again, I think we got too used to the sunshine. Washing will go back on the airer today. DW going on when I've finished drinking tea, need to clean the bathrooms and have a hoover round. Must air DDs room too as she's staying here tonight.

Going to a 50th birthday party tonight, just across the road so no transport problems!

Right, must get moving, have a good weekend everyone. Take care XX

Today I am making a lasagne for my grandsons for their dinner tonight as their Mum and Dad are off up to Norwich to pick up my DGS Ben from Uni.So its a naughty night tonight and the boys and I will snuggle down on the sofa to watch tv and eat some 'goodies' I will also make a Victoria jam sponge for DGS Jack as its his favourite.I stay the night and keep and eye on the dogs and the boys bless them they are no trouble at all.
I'm looking forward to seeing Ben tomorrow when they get home.

Weather is looking not too bad at the moment and hopefully I will get the towels out on the line for a blow later
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing
