Hi, I have a hire car booked for an upcoming trip to Germany and would like to take out separate car hire excess insurance as suggested by this website.
I was just wondering whether any forumites have had experience of claiming against any of these insurances? Its all very well going for the cheapest but if they don't pay out or are a real pain to deal with I think its a false economy.
Any recommendations (or horror stories) gratefuly received.
Cheers

No personal experience of claiming, but insurance4carhire get good reviews as fast payers (e.g. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.insurance4carhire.com ) whereas some others don't.
But my experience is that having used insurance4carhire for many, many years, often hiring several times a year- I've never had to claim; so they must have had some kharmic effect? And all for £40 pa multi-trip.
Whereas the one time my equally experienced brother in law took a car out in Italy without excess cover; he totalled a wheel rim and tyre.
But there is an argument that it's worth taking the rental company's offer as that saves admin in the event of a bump. Not for me, as the online offer has saved me many hundreds of quid (euros, lire, pesetas....) over the years0 -
Thanks Alex. It will be £179 to get "Supercover" from the rental firm so I reckon £40 will be a good option. Hopefully their Karma will cover me and I won't need to claim!0
