Just to let every one know. DO NOT INVEST with this company.
please please dont. Its los Pandos all over again reinvented by the same people. There is a stark warning on their own website, please heed it.
Capitalise Invest is not authorised and regulated by the FCA and clients who proceed to purchase investment products will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman service or the financial services compensation scheme.
This says it all. Los Pandos has just cost british investors over £3.5 million. Be warned.
And Google maps proves there is no train station at Almansa!!!

Are we going to have a warning thread for every scam company that pops up?0
-
This sounds to me like the sort of warning here, that's either
1. that's only read by people who would never in a million years put their money into the care of such a company,
2 Only read after someone lost a lot of money and is googling,
3. Never read here by the people who would invest with such a company.0 -
You forgot: posted by someone trying to attract attention.0

Maybe:
1) Yes, hopefully.
2) No, but hopefully google before they put money in
3) As 2)
Google is a powerful tool. People on here may not read or care but it's surprising how effective it can be to warn others. You only need to see the action taken by Dream lodge to get the threads deleted on their outfit to realise it has an impact on their sales to unsuspecting punters.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

I think you've missed the point. Something blatantly "get rich quick" like this, if you need to google it, you'll be too entranced by the supposed profits to google until it's all gone pear shaped. Or if you read it here before the question of using such as company arises, you're not the sort of person who would use it anyway.
It's like those signs you see on piers telling people not to jump off into three feet of water because it's dangerous. Who the heck are those aimed at? Because anyone dumb enough to need to read it won't.0 -
I think the theory is that if it saves one person who is dumb/drunk enough to jump off the pier but just about in his senses enough to read the sign and think twice, it was worth the effort of putting it up.
Same logic would apply here. People can and do Google these scams after the nice cold caller has spoken to them, when the alarm bells are ringing faintly in the back of their head.
And we do frequently get people posting threads along the lines of "I've discovered / been told about this investment paying 8% guaranteed per annum for car parking spaces in Slough, is it a good idea?"0 -

And the answer to that is: usually not. If you Google "should I invest in an unregulated investment that I heard about from a magazine ad or a cold call, which sounds too good to be true" you would find the answer without even needing a company name.
So its easy to see why some here are fatigued by seeing "yet another" name of a random company that you shouldn't invest in.Malthusian wrote: »I think the theory is that if it saves one person who is dumb/drunk enough to jump off the pier but just about in his senses enough to read the sign and think twice, it was worth the effort of putting it up.
Yes we could spoil all our national beauty spots with huge luminous signage saying "by the way, don't jump off this bit", but imho there's perhaps an element of Darwinism or 'survival of the fittest' needed. People who lose their life savings this way, soon learn to not lose their life savings a second time.0 -

By that time, any Google ranking of this thread will be long gone. The only way to ensure such a warning is preserved is to keep bumping the thread with new discussion. Since there are potentially hundreds of scams people need to be warned about, each would need to fiercely compete for its spot among the first few pages of the board index.
All normal discussion here will necessarily be extinguished.
That isn't the purpose of this site, so if the OP really feels there is a need for such a website, I'd suggest getting some inexpensive hosting package with unlimited domains, firing up Wordpress and setting up a bespoke site for each scam he desires to warn people off. With such focus, a site is likely to rank a lot better than it does here (currently this thread is not in the first page of search results from Google) and a little advertising revenue and a donate button would probably be enough to pay his bills.0 -
I have never been to a seaside pier that could be considered a national beauty spot. Unless you consider slot machines, rickety fairground rides and chavs to be awe-inspiring scenery.
I wouldn't suggest putting signs on every cliff, but piers are magnets for drunken teenage idiots and drunken teenage idiots are prone to jumping into water of unknown depth because they think it's cool, like what people in Samsung ads do. If a few of them read the sign and don't spend life in a wheelchair as a result it will not make the human race genetically weaker.
Similarly it's all well and good if someone loses their life savings and learns not to invest in scams as a result, but it is even better if they learn not to invest in scams before they lose their life savings.0 -

I think you're underestimating Google's algorithm. I Googled a couple of long-running (though still operating) scams and the Moneysavingexpert threads are still on the first page.
It takes a lot of effort and reputation management to get that sort of thing off Google's front page, and most scammers don't bother as there are plenty of marks that won't bother Googling and it's not worth the effort when you plan to take the money and run in a few months or years.0
