I thought I was the only person who bought a Fiesta Studio.

My previous Fiesta didn't start to become time-consuming and expensive to maintain until around the 10 year / 100,000 mile point.

My current 2011 Fiesta (40,000 miles) still feels almost brand-new mechanically.

I'd say you're likely to get at least another 2 years of relatively trouble-free motoring from your car.

Thanks guys, it definitely makes sense to keep it.

I think the main reason I'm thinking of selling it is because I'm a bit bored of driving it. But at the end of the day it takes me from A to B, it's reliable and it's much cheaper than getting a lease!

You might think you are bored with it, but unless you replaced it with another Fiesta you might be disappointed with the replacement as the Fiesta is a very good little car to drive.

if you run it for another year and throw it away financially you will be in a better position than leasing.
But is it a case of you want a new car and a bit bored of the one you have?
I must admit to being in a similar situation with my 127000m 6 n half year old V50 owned by me from new but different from yours in that it needs money spent on new bushes.

One of the few cars I actually regret having to sell was my V50, it was high miles and I hadn't got round to fixing the heater fan (brand new replacement part is still in my garage).

But it was quiet and comfortable. Could have been roomier and mine was short on toys being a 2.0D in S specification, but I has fitted a nice set of leather seats of the correct vintage and even though it was an 08 plate it had no DPF. I think it was the very last like that and was probably built in mid to late 2007 and had sat around for a while, it was Red with a sober Black interior so not everybody's idea of what they wanted in a Volvo estate.

Don't forget, anything you replace it with will become just 'the car' in a couple of months. The novelty soon wears off, but the lease agreement will stay. If it's in good condition and doing what you ask of it, keep it. Put the money you would have spent on the lease into a savings account, and you have a fund for any major repairs, or to replace the car in a year or two. With that approach, if your circumstances change, you have a pot of money that you control, not a commitment for £x a month dead money stretching into the future.

My last car I bought new in 1998. The scrappage came in 2009 and I suggested to the wife I should change it then. "There's nowt wrong with it, keep it" she barked. I finally sold it in 2015. Those last 6 years probably cost about £800 in depreciation and £400 in services and repairs. The car was as reliable, if not more so, than when it was new. It must be possible to motor so cheaply if you pick the right cars secondhand.
