It was a standing joke that we had our own space in A and E when the girls were small! They were always having accidents and this was before they were at school. When they went to school they had plenty of scrapes and bruises and to be honest they're not much better now.
All of us, me included, are very clumsy, can't walk past a table without walking into it, can't open a cupboard door without hitting ourselves in the face and don't even mention door frames!
There was a report in the paper years ago that clever people are more clumsy as their brain works faster than the body-not sure of the logic of that but I'll take it!

7 minor injuries in a 6 month periods for a 5 year old is normal IMO. Both my daughter's when that age had a lot more than that, as I and my 3 siblings did at the same age.

That's terrible that you don't take a call from the school  never mind at what time. I work in a Secondary school and cover first aid sometimes, and yes the majority of the time the bumps and cuts are minor and we do not call home, but with some head injuries or other incidents depending on how they are we do, The school only have 1st aider's there and it is not their responsibility to make a judgement call for your child.
We have had broken limbs, back injuries, breathing difficulties to name a few incidents, how would you feel if it was something major?? We have had to release staff on occasion to go and sit in A&E with students because parents "Don't bother to answer the phone"

I totally agree with this! How awful that a parent knowingly ignores a call from school! Even if the child is accident prone, and calls are frequent, how would you be sure that it was t a serious incident! Honestly I'm shocked at this!

Working in a school, that list looks normal, especially for younger children who are starting to risk-take, make new friends who play at various levels of 'rough'.
The key is he well-being of your child, if they are not scared and happy about their school experience thus far, I would say that's the most important thing!

I think your DD is doing really well not having more accidents. I am a TA in a reception class and part of my job is first aid. Every day l often have a little line of bumps and bruises usually minor but you just never know. When children are playing they do not see obstacles or for that matter other children often because they are too engrossed in what they are doing - having fun. We have to asked the children how the accident happened and where so it should say on the form what happened.

In school we have to note every accident if we have administer first aid and bumped heads can happen anywhere even when they are lining up for lunch - yes standing in a line because they all want to be at the front and that is all they think about.

Some children will be at first aid several times a day and even more than once during the lunch hour and more often than not it is the same children every day.

If you are concerned talked to the teacher she will be made aware of any accidents that happen at lunch-time and like every says if she tells you all about her latest first aid visit l am sure she will be fine. As she gets older she will learn to be more careful - l hope.

I was also a TA for many years.I agree with most of what has already been said.I would like to add another strange thing to the mix.I noticed that we had an increase in falling over after every holiday.I realised it was new shoeitis. Some shoe soles particularly on less expensive shoes do not grip well on tarmac, particularly if it is damp. After a few weeks the soles get worn in and give a bit of purchase.
