How often your child having accidents at school?

My 5 yr old daughter, who is in reception since last September had following accidents so far.
1. cut in lip with heavy bleeding.
2. Bump in head requiring ice pack
3. 2 times bruises while playing in school ground
4. Bleeding from knee due to another kid pushing her to playground rough surface.
5. Cuts in body twice which she can't remember how happened and school did not provide any incident slips.
My question, is it normal or she is just having too many incidents? She is our only one and most of our friends' kids are younger so can't really compare!
Or the school is negligent compared to other schools?

Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Some kids are more accident prone than others.
I'm not sure you've provided any information that suggests the school is to blame.0 -
I'd say that's perfectly normal especially as she's probably out playing:
- in a larger group
- on a hard surface
- more often and with
- less supervision

The nurses from A&E will tell you this - I was waiting with Mum one time when a nurse came out, looked round the waiting room, saw a family who had just arrived and said "Freddie! What have you done this time?"0 -
I was very accident-prone at school, always had bruises and scraped knees, not to mention the bumps on the head.
Definitely agree that some kids are more accident-prone.0 -
thats 5 incidents in 6 months of school... how many times has she hurt herself at home in that time??
My 4 y/o had 2 incidennts in 2 days.. shes had numerous bumped heads, hit in the face with a toy, fallen over about a million times, she has had scabbed knees for months, trapped her fingers and one time had a door opened into her face.. since September..
My 5 y/o had had 3 bumped heads, her glasses broken, 3 scabby knees/shredded tights, a nose bleed and a cut finger since September..
My grandson currently has a black eye from nursery and a few weeks ag he had a massive egg on his forehead..

Be guided by whether she feels safe and is happy at school. If so, all is fine, if not investigate further.
As others have said some kids are accident prone. My youngest had lots of injuries at school at the same age (4 or 5 per week though not 5 over 6 months) and was miserable and hated school, so we changed schools and he is now happy and very rarely comes home with any bumps or bruises.0 -
let's just say when my mobile rings about 1.20pm i never answer ... dd is always bumping her head on something. there are very few weeks without me having a call. i did wonder at one point if something was going on but she assures me not.
i think it is, like others have said, just dependant on your child etc.Don’t put it down - put it away!

My youngest is so accident prone at school and at home. He is always coming home with extra bruises and bumped head notes. He managed to bump his head this week on a wall, which has been there since he started school so I think he forgot it was there!
If there is something to stand on/ slip on/ bang into he does it - and he makes such a drama from it too bless him.
Doesn't sound excessive to me and, as someone else says, if she is happy then I wouldn't worry.0 -
I can sympathise with your little girl on this one I am a walking disaster! I can't even walk in a straight line and OH is just as bad if we have kids the poor child will have to put in permanent bubble wrap
All my school life my mum spent taking calls from the school or the cadets because I had hurt this or that. It didn't get any better as I got older in fact I partially dislocated my knee putting jeans on a week ago lol
If she seems happy in herself and isn't clingy or upset when it comes to going to school I would leave her be.
Are the school letting you know at least when she has had a bad tumble for example when she hit her head? If they are then I wouldn't worry too much as they would appear to be keeping an eye outFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
