My friend is convinced that supermarket petrol is inferior quality to that bought from "proper" petrol station forecourts. She is quite happy to pay 4p more per litre for her Shell petrol than the local Tesco/Sainsburys.

I think she's crackers but perhaps there are many people that share her view.

As its all out of the same big big tank at the oil depot i never worry .
Local Shell refinery and watch Tesco loading the fuel .

An awful lot of drivers are willing to pay over the odds and have no real interest in fuel saving .

I have email from Petrol Prices .com and use the cheapest i can source.

I'd be more convinced that the supermarkets are trying to get you to visit there more often.... If you get petrol at their supermarket then you may do a quick shop too, and you may also sign up to their christmas saver scheme or their regular shopper scheme.

Costs me about £5 a week on petrol with the motorbike for a full tank (down from £5.50+ a few months ago), so do not care one bit about petrol costs :D

The bikes my son used to ride were worse on fuel than cars. I don't think fuel price was one of his considerations either.

Ahhh rewards, I used to fill up on the motorway all the time (MOTO), £1 voucher per 100 litres, Sticking 400 litres in the tank soon got a nice pile of vouchers.

Went away in the caravan with my sister and mate and everyone had a BK meal at the services and it cost nothing in real money just vouchers saved.

The company paid for the fuel in advance so they didnt pay motorway prices either. A few tried to collect BP nectar points, but it got stopped because we didnt actually buy the fuel from the station. Just drawing off x litres than had already been paid for at a discounted rate.

Also, people who have company cars and their petrol costs claimed back don't care what price they are paying!

I was going to say that. If you stick a Greggs in there then the van drivers who get their fuel paid for by their company will be well happy to go there because the extra amount charged won't affect them.

5p/litre difference if you're popping in to top up 20L isn't a big deal if you're then spending £3 on a minging sandwich. Petrol prices are strange in that people will fixate on odd pennies for a litre of fuel when they will spend upwards of £2 on a 12 ounce coffee.

I just fixate on the pennies and don't go for the caffeine rush. If I can get the stuff 5p a litre cheaper without driving much out of my way I'll do that.

Surely more vent worthy is the fact that prices are creeping back up in general when oil hasn't gone the same way?

Yes. I noticed that Tesco added 1p a couple of days ago, but Sainsbury's had not risen. (I don't know about Morrisons etc as I just happened to pass the two stores mentioned.)
