Petrol prices

The garage near me (Esso) was taken over last year around November/December. All the pumps we refurbished and they redid the shop. It now has a Greggs and a Subway. The price of petrol is higher than other garages in the area. I checked last night and unleaded was 105.9. The garage down the road was 100.9.
Come on you Irons

Is there anything stopping you going to the garage down the road?
Is the price not displayed on a large board outside so you don't even have to stop to check it?0 -
I do go to another garage. I just wondered how they can be 4-5p more that other garages.Come on you Irons0

Because people still use them so they can get away with it. On my way to work within a couple of hundred yards there's a supermarket selling cheap petrol and a petrol station which is always a few pence a litre more. The petrol station always has customers even though they drive past the supermarket one to get to it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Sounds exactly like the Esso in my town, yesterday diesel was 107.9. There is also a Shell locally but they have an agreement (cartel?) to not undercut the Esso on price. Further away there is a small independent garage that has diesel for 100.9. The nearest supermarkets (Sainsburys and Morrisons) currently have diesel for 97.9. So filling up locally would cost about £5 more per tank at the moment. I guess they feel they can get away with it as many motorists are just too lazy to shop around.
There is a rumour that the local Sainsburys wants to install a forecourt, hopefully the local Esso and Shell will then realise they can't get away with it any longer.0 -
My friend is convinced that supermarket petrol is inferior quality to that bought from "proper" petrol station forecourts. She is quite happy to pay 4p more per litre for her Shell petrol than the local Tesco/Sainsburys.
I think she's crackers but perhaps there are many people that share her view.0 -
Also, people who have company cars and their petrol costs claimed back don't care what price they are paying!0

My sibling is another who feels the same. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Now I'm retired and have a static caravan in Norfolk and spend most of the summer there with trips back home. The diesel (and petrol) there is virtually always 4p a litre cheaper than at home. £2 on a typical 50 litre fill up.
Prices vary - shop wherever suits you best.0
