Opening New Bank Account

Ive been reading up on the benefits of multiple current account switches and think its about time I jumped on the band wagon. My only issue is that I currently bank with Lloyds and already receive their 4% interest rate which I don't want to lose.

I therefore thought I would open a separate bank account and use that to switch from having satisfied any minimum pay in and direct debit criteria etc. To make the most out of the process, I thought I'd try to open an account which offers an incentive to new customers who aren't switching, but I can't find any accounts that offer this. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. If no such accounts exist, I will just start with an account which offers little and then start switching to those who offer more.

Many thanks..!!

Why exactly do you want to 'jump on the bandwagon'? Is there something wrong with the account that you have? I have held my main current account for several decades and would not want to loose what I have built up over the years and go back to square one as a new customer for some silly little switching bonus.
  • Hence the point of my question... I want to retain my 'current' current account as well as taking advantage of the benefits of switching accounts...
  • Hey,

It is very easy to open bank account.
  • Thank you for your response Sandra but I think you've missed the point of my question..

The only bonuses (boni?) available are for full switches. You got the right idea about starting with a new account - search the forum for donor accounts.
  • Great, thanks for that, I assumed that was the case, but I needed to check before I potentially missed out

I think you've missed the point of the response......
  • How so..?? I know it is easy to open a bank account, I was simply seeking advice as to which one would be best to open, she therefore missed the point of my question.

My thanks to colsten for offering some help with my question rather than questioning the reasons for asking in the first place or pointing out the blindingly obvious. :rotfl:

I think you'll find spam posts by Sandra appearing very soon - hence the purpose of their response wasn't replying to you with any useful info.

Your choice. If you have an account that old then I can bet you're not being paid interest and probably don't get any benefits. What exactly have you built up over the years that you wouldn't want to lose? I can't think of anything that a 30 year account would give.

You might consider £1000 to be a silly bonus but I'm happy to take it. It's great there are still people like you around as it means there's still plenty for the rest of us to take.
