Unlocking Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - via EE

Hi

My last mobile phone contract was with Orange for 2 years with a Samsung Galaxy note 3. I am now out of contract and have a TalkTalk SIM that I want to use with the Galaxy (giving a saving of £30 a month), but the phone is locked. I requested the code (via phone to EE) to unlock the phone on 17th Feb and was told the code would be emailed to me within 7 - 10 working days. 16 days now and I am still waiting for a code to unlock the phone. Have made several enquiry calls to EE. They say that they have escalated the request but are still waiting for Samsung to process/provide the code. During my last call to EE I was told I would have a reply with unlocking code within 48 hours. That was on 3rd March. Now the 9th March and I am still waiting! Any advice anyone?! I need mobile for work! :-/ TIA

I remember someone having terrible issues for a Samsung code last year, it was 40 or 50 days before it was supplied iirc.

You can ring Samsung direct and they should be able to sort it out.

No, unlocking requests have to go via the network. Samsung won't entertain any direct request.

Thanks. A friend told me that she got an unlocking code directly from Apple, with no problems, within 24 hours. So I did call Samsung a few days ago Cindy, but as Dave says they won't do anything. They just say action/request needs to be taken via provider - end of. Thanks for your input though. :)

Your friend must be confused, Apple is the same (in fact all manufacturers are the same), any request for unlocking or unlocking codes has to be routed through the network provider that the lock relates to. They are the only ones that can make the request.
