Application to card receipt can take a week. Metro Bank, I walked out with a card within an hour or two of application.

The prepaid cards are all relatively poor options. The mere fact that you consider Caxton as appropriate to your needs is indicative.

As to making more effort....It is likely that the OP did not know of the FlexOne option. No card issue fees, no ATM fee, no cross currency exchange fee, no fee for chargebacks and the like. No dormancy fees. Interest on funds. Twenty four hour customer service....and an incentive to go on holiday with your children.

The prepaid cards are relatively poor options in comparison. Nonsense?

As I said, the more advice the OP is given the better, then she/he can
make a decision based on their circumstances and preferences. It was your nonsensical comment which was indicative of your lack of understanding.

Allow me to explain to those not quite so quick on the uptake.....

The FlexOne debit card carries no charges for International usage, is fee free and doesn't require a minimum monthly load and amount of transactions.. Think about how many other debit cards fit that category.
I'll tell you......none.

So a very good incentive to take your child on holiday(so that you can use their card). Perhaps I should have put a big wink after that statement...to make it more obvious.

I need not repeat what I have already written, as it is still wholly accurate..
Perhaps you can give us the benefit of your 'open mind' and explain to us quite how the Prepaid card is equal or superior to my suggestion.
In my mind, the Prepaid card is a relatively poor option. I'm happy to stand by my comments. So, let's see your reasoning.
Prepaid card is more costly to obtain and to utilise. Customer service available for only half the day.
3pm in New York. Child attempts to use the card, but there is a problem. Who do you call? You can't. You'll need to wait until 8am the next day in London...twelve hours later. Weekends even worse.
So far your reasoning goes as far as your Caxton card arriving after four days. Whoopie!

This might be useful if the child was leaving imminently. But if this is not the case...the prepaid cards are relatively poor options.

So instead of continuing to write nonsense about open minds, tell us how the prepaid card is not a poor option by comparison....or fade away.

Ironic that is was you who took issue with my comment that the Prepaid cards were a relatively poor option, even though I backed my comment with published evidence.
Now here you are, playing the victim. Of course it is because you have no argument, other than that you were outraged at the fact that I suggested that the Prepaid card that you suggested was a relatively poor option, as compared to a full service debit card. Perhaps odd that you took it so personally...eh?
