Life Mobile/Phones4U/Samung Problm

This is a short version of a post I sent earlier and which didn't register.

My father and I live near Belfast and our mobiles were out-of-contract in September 2014.

I went to a Phones4U store just outside Belfast and bought my father a simple Dora phone in September 2014. It is a simple phone and works fine. But, unfortunately, that same week, Phones4U went into administration.

At the same time, I I also bought myself a Samsung Galaxy Ace 3. It has caused nothing but problems ever since.

The network is 'Life', who use EE, and Life have sent me several different SIM cards for my phone since the,n, which have worked periodically, but failure has arisen again again.

Today, I phoned life, they said it was nothing to do with them, and transferred me to Samsung. They referred me to a complicated website called 'Samsung Kies' and said that should sort everything. I am not a techno expert. They also said there was no guarantee that pictures, numbers, apps, etc, would continue to work.

I feel I am a a crossroads: Phones4U , who no longer exist, cannot help; Life Mobile do not thin they have any responsibility beyond their SIM cards; and Samsung who want me (an ordinary person) to fix the problem, when it is their phone that seems to b the problem. They are a technical company: I am an ordinary user.

I do no think there are any Samsung shops in or near Belfast. Would another operator be able to help?

l really do not want to lose very precious pictures, texts, apps, etc.

So, really,I just want you help!

THANK YOU!

Please treat this e-mail as urgent, as there are also medical issues involved.

Thank you.

Gavin.

Does the SIM work in any other phone? Do other SIMs work in the phone? Can you ditch Life Mobile?

"very precious pictures, texts, apps, etc." aren't a problem. Everything can be backed up. Apps can be reinstalled.

Life mobile are correct. Your handset wasn't bought from them and had nothing at all to do with them.

If you've tried it with a different sim and there's no issues then move provider. Of the issues persist when using a different sim then it's the provider and you can then move provider.

Since you can't contact P4U you're left with Samsung to deal with if its a technical fault.

Call them and tell them you're not prepared to deal with this yourself and want them to perform a warranty repair.

They will however more than likely wipe your phone in the process of repairing it (you've not actually said what's wrong with it) so you need to be able to back it up yourself. They won't do this for you and they offer no guarantee that they can preserve the data on your phone.

As said backup/ copy off your required data .

Usual way is via your usb connection and PC copy and paste .
OP is a bit confusing .
Is the problem the network/ sim or the phone not working .
Choices take / send the phone to Samsung .
Or take the phone to a local mobile repair shop ( though this may void any warranty .

Samsung Kies is for backing up your phone it should back up almost everything on the phone ie: photo's, text messages, emails, ringtones.
You have to install the Kies program on your computer to use.
