I'm on 3 network on a 30 day rolling SIM only contract which I've had for a few years. I've decided to take out a new contract with 3 for the Honor 7 phone.
I want to transfer my number over from the SIM only contract to my new Honor 7 contact. (I've had the same number 15 years and was originally BTCellnet/O2 number).
3 say I have to downgrade my SIM only contract to PAYG for 30 days before they can transfer my number. This has got me thinking that I could port my number to an O2 PAYG SIM card then port it straight back to 3 the next day to my new Honor 7 contract.
What I want to know is will I need to to-up the O2 PAYG sim first?

You just change your contract and don't 'transfer' anything. That's how all 'upgrades' are done, and so are 'downgrades'.This has got me thinking that I could port my number to an O2 PAYG SIM card then port it straight back to 3 the next day to my new Honor 7 contract.

Why didn't they just upgrade your simo contract?
Am I missing something? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I took out the Honor 7 contract separately. I didn't upgrade the SIM only contract.
Just incase I didn't like it so I could have sent it back within the cooling off period with no hassles. Although now it is becoming a hassle to transfer my number over.0
