We've booked to stay one night at the Grand Canyon.
So not much flexibility really!
hmmm, I'm not an expert on this (I'll tell you more in May), but from what I can gather, LAS-GC is not a very inspiring drive, GC-PHX is very nice.0 -

Try the dollar.co.uk website. Also, give them a ring to confirm there will be no one-way charges, that's what I did (twice, just to make sure !).0 -
Thanks MTC - great price with usrentacar and you're right no one way rental fee.
Food for thought with return journey to SFO0 -

Oh and the weather in April will be perfect !
That's good to know - I had been a little worried - have heard stories about people getting snowed in at the Grand Canyon in April, but we're restricted to school holidays and don't fancy it it the summer, so not much choice!2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

I suppose that it COULD happen, but looking at the average weather for the GC, it would seem very unlikely. From what I can gather, the South Rim is a lot milder than the North Rim (but I'm in no way an expert).
I don't know if I mentioned it further up the thread, but I'm not visiting the GC on this trip. My children won't be old enough to appreciate it and it will give us an excuse to go back another time :j0 -

It's great to have something to go back for! We're off to tour the California coast (San Fran to San Diego) next Friday :j and everyone has been saying "oh, you MUST visit Yosemite!". Nah...not this time, its too cold. We'll have a great time seeing the coast and chilling out for a few days in San Diego at the end. And Yosemite will still be there when we go back another year, maybe in May or Sept when the weather's more suitable.0 -

You lucky devil - I'm sat here at my desk, smiling at your forthcoming trip.:beer:0 -

I've done both these drives and I can confirm what MTC says, the trip to Phoenix is great. Try to stay off the interstate for more scenery.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0 -

It's possible. We went in May and although had no snow at Grand Canyon, almost got snowed in at Bryce Canyon, which came as a surprise given the bright sunshine for the days before that. Having said that there was enough tourist traffic to make the roads driveable, so I would not worry too much. It will be cold though.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0
