I suggest your mum goes for a full benefit check up with CAB to check that she is receiving all the benefits that she is entitled to. They will also be able to advise on the best energy deals.

    PIP is £82.70 a month

That doesn't correspond with any of the relevant rates, even on a four weekly basis. Do you know which level award she has?

Why is she not receiving the minimum amount?

I am not sure what you mean by this.

PIP can be awarded for care or mobility or both. The OP's mum could just be on enhanced care.

The reason I suggested CA|B is because I am not sure that the OP knows what benefits his mum is on.

One thread it was ESA and now it is IS.

The lowest amount of PIP someone can receive is £21.80 per week / £94.46 per month (standard mobility)

If she is only receiving £82.70 per month then she isn't receiving even the minimum amount of PIP entitlement.

Sorry, you are right - read it as per week :)

Even more reason for a benefits check up or a look at the award letters!

She was claiming ESA, are you sure it's not that rather than IS?

You don't pay bedroom tax. She is actually just paying towards her rent. Does no one else live there?

How old is your mum, is she nearing pension age?

From other threads it sounds like she needs help managing her budget. Post her incomings and outgoings on the Debtfree Wannabe board and they'll help her with managing her finances.

ok will use the debtfee wannabe and see where she goes from there...cheers
