Morning, hope I can get help on this issue
My mother is on disability allowance but still pays bedroom tax and pays for gas and electric
I am wondering if there is some sort of help that she can get from the government to pay for these things or even help to pay some of it?
thank you in advance for any advice on this matter
regards
O

She pays bedroom tax? Really?0

Before we try to help we need to know exactly what benefits your mother is receiving.
ESA? DLA/PIP/AA? something else?0 -

She has to pay for gas and electricity, the same as everyone else. She may be eligible for schemes to assist her, but that would depend on the benefits she receives (there's no such benefit as disability allowance, is it disability living allowance, personal independence payment, attendance allowance or employment and support allowance? and what rates?).
Can she not downsize if she is paying the spare room subsidy?0 -

I need to pay gas and electric every month. Not sure why your mother is any more special that says she shouldn't pay.
It would be the council you contact to see if they would offer a short relief on the bed room tax by offering a discretionary housing payment, But she can't afford the bed room tax, either get a lodger or put in a housing application to move. Or wait till Labour get back into power in like 20 years time and they would probably abolish it, Or just change the name of it...0 -

I think you need to clarify exactly what benefits or other income your mother receives or you will not get any helpful replies.
I am not certain of 'bedroom tax' but - correct me if I'm wrong - I think it implies that your mother has a spare bedroom, maybe lives alone in a 2-bed rented property - and is claiming Housing Benefit to pay her rent. She can only claim this for the bedroom she actually uses. Is this correct?
It's not a tax that she actually pays, rather that she receives less than she thinks she should receive.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

The very minimum monthly amount should be £94 as the standard mobility is £21.80 per week.

She was claiming ESA, are you sure it's not that rather than IS?
You don't pay bedroom tax. She is actually just paying towards her rent. Does no one else live there?
How old is your mum, is she nearing pension age?
From other threads it sounds like she needs help managing her budget. Post her incomings and outgoings on the Debtfree Wannabe board and they'll help her with managing her finances.0
