Gran hotel Atlantis Bahia Real currently out of the price bracket, but it has come down since we first looked in Jan.Been, its lovely, absolutely classy hotel.
or
Barcelo Corralejo Bay more in our range, but i've head as its adult only it tends to be senior citizens which some people have said is a problem. Think old swingers hotel! Never stayed there, but have had friends do so. I'd avoid it.
We're young 28 and 30 but not after the party islands, normally distance from town etc is not an issue and if the op goes well I'll be fully fit and able again.
I hadn't thought of Malta, I was put off Cyprus as there appears to be a general terrorism threat.
Just as Turkey has amazing deals I'm not prepared to travel there at the moment.
The Barcelo in Costa Caleta looks nice as well though trip advisor says otherwise. There's actually two barcelos in Caleta De Fuste, the Thalasso Spa and the Beach Resort. I've stayed in both, I prefer the Thalasso spa (if you get a superior room you get free entry into the spa for the duration of your stay, so no kids!) They are both literally on the beach, next to shops, bars etc. The only down side is the price of drinks - go all inclusive, its worth the extra as in the hotel its seriously expensive.
I've stayed in the Bahia Real, its lovely, if a little away from everything. If you want a hotel that does literally everything, its your place, but its over a mile to Corralejo, so if you don't have a car it can be costly (driving over there is literally the easiest! One lane motorways) if you want to get out and about.
Stayed in both Barcelos in Caleta De Fuste (Costa Caleta), both great locations (they are next to each other but completely seperate, the beach resort is huge), and the Thalasso Spa has mini golf (great fun, open t the public so you don't have to stay at the hotel to use it, I think its 6 euros each).
Also stayed at the Sheraton (expensive but nice), Broncemar Beach (Hell hole), and what was the Principe but is now called the Elba San Jorge I think (Nice but really basic, cheap and cheerful, food isn't great and is on a hill, but the pub underneath is amazing!). Great Tapas bar across the road from the two Barcelos - El Capitan - always busy but amazing food.
Far too much choice over there, but it is relatively flat and really accessible, people cannot do enough to help you, especially if you have sticks, crutches etc. There's also Jandia/Morro Jable/Costa Calma down south, as well as Playa Blanca on Lanzarote which is gorgeous and again really accessible for mobility. There's a bit more going on in Lanza, and a lot more trips available.0 -
Can I throw a new idea into the mix? If you've liked the Greek places you've stayed, then Parga on the mainland is just gorgeous. You'd need a bit of DIY, as I'd recommend you stay as near to the harbour as possible, the package places are all up a fairly steep hill. But I BELIEVE easy jet may fly into Preveza now, which makes it easier. It's around 45 mins easy drive from the airport.
We've stayed twice, at http://www.dallasstudios.gr/ and https://www.parganet.travel/hotel_presentation.cfm?htl_code=PRGPAR
both are in fabulous locations right on the beach, the 2nd was much newer, but Dallas studios were still great. It's a bustling town, but love it so much, it's a shingle beach, but you can swim over to the island easily, and it's fab for snorkelling.
We went to Correlejo a few years back in Feb, the wind got right on my nerves, and to be honest we didn't really like the whole island. Not much to see or do, and not a lovely as Greece! It was just OK for a week.
Hope it helps to have another view point.0 -
Thanks Both, I'm not sure if I'll be able to drive, I'm the only one of the two that can drive and at the moment not sure if I'll be able to drive. So plans are so far being based on no driving and not too much walking.
Looking at the map the Bahia Real looked close to the town, if i'm looking at the map can you give me an idea of where the town, bars restaurants etc are? a couple of road names will do and I can look it up.0 -

The Bahia is in the Corralejo Dunes, not in Corralejo proper, well its on the very very edge of it, but I wouldn't like to walk it. Its at least a mile out of the town centre (where the main shops, bars etc are). There are a couple of local shops but nothing like a normal resort, which is around the harbour, Calle Playa Cho Leon and Calle Hibisco are two I remember, and they are literally the other end of town. I'd probably suggest Playa Blanca on Lanzarote to have a look around and put in the maybe pile, loads of culture, scenery, walks, and you can always pop over to Corralejo (or the other way around), its 25 minutes on the Fred Olson Ferry.
Private transfers are around 40-50 minutes, and coaches could be anything up to 2 hours, might be too much if you're recovering from surgery?
Mainland Greece is lovely (best mate is Greek), I loved Zante and Thessaloniki, but they aren't accessible as such. Cheap as chips though!0 -

Corralejo will be usually mid twenties, and can get easily into the thirties in June, and the winds are not strong in summer (it is a windy place, being an island in the atlantic, but its not a cold wind!). The cool winds come from the end of February to usually the end of April, so you should be ok - but if you're uncomfortable, then don't go, its a long way to be unhappy!
Late deals are usually from 8 weeks before departure, so if you're looking to go the first week in june, you will need to start looking around the second week of April. The closer to the departure date, the cheaper it will be.
Presumably though when it's windy on the beach it's difficult.0
