I read this in Vauban's guide 8% interest is added but can't find the source of this ? I don't want to ask if it's not legitimate.

8% is legit don't know where it comes from. You can ask for it but good luck with that. The only person who can force them to pay 8% interest is a judge if it had to go to court.0

8% is the historic rate used in Small claims system. It probably is too high in this day and age, the actual rate or if it is deemed payable is decided by the judge. If your claim is from some time ago with a considerable interest amount, in addition to the compensation, I suspect some airlines may push you right up to a court date then settle beforehand to avoid paying interest. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
