As the fault only occurred on the extension it was always going to be an internal fault and not the line.
If visible check that there is no damage to the extension wiring. Wires don't wear out but they can be damaged. The other point of failure is the connections so try remaking the extension connections using a proper krone tool mentioned above. Finally try a new extension socket.
I've gone through the above in cheapest to dearest sequence but IMO the most likely thing that has failed is the connector in the extension socket. If you have some switch cleaner use it on the connector. If not WD40 may help.
Initially I thought it would turn out to be the phone but swapping them over ruled that out.0
