Very few, because most of us have the sense to close our ex-staff accounts once we no longer used them.

Most people also have the sense to have their mail forwarded for a while when they move - certainly for longer than 3 months.

Forcing staff to use RBS lol. Sounds like LBG, who wanted my credit file before offering me a job! !!!! off!

!!!! off! is probably the same response they gave you when you wouldn't allow them access to your credit file.

With your attitude, don't waste your time applying for any jobs in the financial sector again. As agrinnall says above, I'd expect all banks to credit check potential employees. A friend of mine had a job offer from Nationwide rescinded when they checked his credit file and saw his bad record of debts. A different friend applied to HSBC and was advised at the application stage that a job offer would be subject to a credit check.

Surely it became one of these poorly sold premium accounts - at the point i became chargeable and didn't require an active opt in by the OP.

I would be asking the ex-employer to refund themselves their fees and remove the late payment and default markers - leaving it as any other dormant account.

Credit checking is becoming needlessly common these days.

I appreciate I should have closed the account or changed my address but to start charging a dormant account without any agreement for something I never asked for and was forced to take is un acceptable. if they had closed the account with no warning I wouldn't have had an issue. That's usual procedure for dormant accounts

You would have been sent a letter regarding the reverting of your account.

    a) as explained already they no longer require staff to have an account with them, and b) I doubt if there is any bank that would not check the credit records of a potential employee.

They could check all they want, asking me to pay for it is quite another matter.

Besides I was not taking the job, in the group interview I pointed out 3 bits of the introduction were actually against regulations, and the local HR manager who took this group interview was the one who wrote it with poor photocopied LBG sheets added to it. Add to the fact they were mock trainīng staff to sell loans to customers who called to lodge a official complaint due to problems with their replacement cards not arriving for a wedding situation by not acknowledging the card issue and we could put loan money in their account by the next day and ask them to attend branch with a passport ?

I walked out in disgust at the end of the training interview with the sales technique to avoid a complaint being registered on a staff error and upsell for a call for missing replacement debit cards.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Why would you have to pay anything for an employer to do a credit check on you, particularly a bank who will have large scale contracts with all the CRAs?

Encouraging staff to up-sell loans to people complaining about replacement cards not arriving in time for a wedding is very specific - does that happen a lot then?

Though if they were going to try and dodge a staff error complaint then I'd imagine it would be much easier for them to say "the system says the card was posted x days ago. It seems it's been lost in the post so we'll cancel the card and order a new one right away" than to try and sell a loan.

Dont know, LBG wanted a paper copy we were all told to provide if we wanted to take up the offer of employment it had to be submitted before starting.

This was for a telephone banking service position.

I was absolutely shocked at it all, like mis-selling was normal trained practice, it was 2010 after they were bailed out.

I swore never to have a LBG account, I only banked with TSB after our local RBS closed as no other option was near within a mile as Clydesdale closed their branch half a mile away before RBS, besides I knew TSB was mandatory being sold so I knew I would not be LBG long.

I only took a Halifax Reward as well if they are mis-selling then I'm going to make them lose £5 a month.

Surely millions could join Halifax and get £5 a month, even those on DWP benefits and Housing Benefit payments cover the £750 a month pay in rule, I intend to get everyone I can on Reward account, they deserve to lose it, shambolic bank if they train to break rules on first training day.

It's quite amusing that your method of getting back at Halifax is to drum up new customers for them! I don't think that will quite have the affect you think it will.

No we were being trained to address anything as a upsell. Turn a negative to a positive for the bank, FINANCIALLY. I only picked the one I remember most, a irate customer, wedding, could not pay wedding things due to staff error with replacement cards, sell a loan when the account had thousands in it for the wedding - this was one on one mock training on the phone. Ignore complaint, play it down + tell customer you can authorise large counter withdraw next day at branch with passport when they take a loan on the phone.

    It was shocking.
