O2 Travel Changes

If you use o2 travel on your mobile beware! From 7th April They are changing the charging mechanism and you will be charged £1.99 per day even if you only send 1 text in that day!
They have sent out a message to say how much better it is but it is a con to get you to pay £1.99 per day. So no more 50p phone call to let family know you arrived safe and no 5p texts either so if you send 1 text you better send another 40 in the same day or make 4 phone calls to make it worth your while!! If you want to opt-out, you can do so at any time by texting “NOTRAVEL” to 23336

For the heavier user who uses data the change will be beneficial.
For those only making the occasional call and using no data at all, yes it will be more expensive.0 -
A pre sale of o2 UK change, Telefonica cant keep this benefit for the new owners which likely might not be 3 UK owners.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

I've just been caught out by this change. I sent 7 text messages over 5 days and was charged £6 by O2.
In fairness to them, they refunded the charge within a few minutes of complaining via online chat, but I think the whole practice of the £1.99 charge kicking in from the 1st text is incredibly dishonest.
Surely it makes more sense to have a £1.99 cap but charge for individual uses up to that amount? I understand the logic for heavy users but everyone else suffers under this scheme.0
