One you choose to move and the provider can ask for full payment for remaining months .
Then either you have to pay off the remaining months on this contract or if your ISP services your new contract then you start a new one .
Its standard practice see multiple identical posts .
Best to pay off the remaining months on your current valid contract if you don't want to start a new contract . That gives you the option of changing ISP at new home .0 -
I am exactly in the same position..moving home in 10 days and I am with TalkTalk. What I did is when my 12 months contract ended last January, I did not sign for another contract but asked them to keep the contract rolling on a monthly basis (it means I will pay standard price-no deals)..but that gave me the flexibility that as soon as a completion date has been confirmed for my house move, I gave TT 30 days notice. The service will be disconnected on the last night I am spending at this house so it worked well for me0

Hi IAINMCLEAN52
Our Home move service is free of charge, when a Home move order is placed a new contract is entered, this can't be amended sorry. You can find info on moving home with us on our website.

Firstly: TalkTalk, your reply is disingenuous. You don't mention anywhere (that I can find) that a MANDATORY 18 month contract is required for home moves. The fact that it's free (which is a reasonable expectation) is neither here nor there: the fact that you force customers onto longer contracts is the matter at hand. When a customer is already on a 12 month contract, and has paid 12 months up front, being forced onto an 18 month contract is bordering on deceptive (intentionally obfuscatory at best) and unfair.
OP: I've just ended up in the same situation. I very deliberately avoid 18 month contracts, and originally chose a TalkTalk 12 month plan via TopCashBack. I paid 12 months up front for line rental. I then moved house a few months later, and had to pay 12 months up front again (which was fine, I have been in credit since). At no point was I made aware that the house move contract was automatically (and un-negotiably) 18 months. On TalkTalk's account management page, you are only shown whether or not you are in contract, not the remaining contract period or expiry.
I ended up in a protracted argument with a TalkTalk agent this week, who did point out that I was informed of this in my confirmation email (which is unfortunately correct). However, the point stands: I originally selected a 12 month contract, I paid 12 months (twice!) line rental up front, yet I ended up with an 18 month contract that I was blissfully unaware of except for one missed line in an email. And there's no choice: if you move home, you either accept an 18 month contract or you cancel. They won't budge on a shorter contract term. And it appears deliberate to obscure this fact from consumers.
The TalkTalk agent then tried to do me a deal on fibre. Which I would happily accept... but they only do 18 month contracts on fibre internet!0 -
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

It's not obscure. The initial contract is at the existing address. If you move, the supplier has to reprovision the service at their expense, and it is hardly unreasonable to expect you in return to accept a new minimum term. as you are otherwise in breach of contract.
AFAIK, Sky is the only mainstream provider that allows a home move without imposing a new minimum term.No free lunch, and no free laptop
