Are these deductions from our deposit fair?

Honestly I think that 90% of these deductions are BS. A reasonable landlord would visit once in a while and check up on possible mould problems etc. How can you blame mould on a tennant? Clearly the ventilation isn't right. Most landlords accept that an additional professional clean is needed after the tenants move out and factor this into the price too. Replacement battery and broken plug charges are rediculous.
I got charged £50 quid for a broken plastic door latch holding the freezer door to the fitted kitchen door. The replacement part would have cost no more than a fiver and it broke with a normal pulling force.0 -

I agree about the scratches on the sink. My sister had a new kitchen put in 2 months ago, and there are already scratches at the edge of it. So after a few years scratches are pretty much inevitable, I would have thought.
I get the impression that the OP's LL/LA are being very petty, and trying it on. Although two or three of the deductions they want to make are reasonable enough, (missing items) the rest aren't.0 -
Thank you all for your invaluable input it's as always extremely helpful and gives a good perspective.
I've suggested fair amounts based of what you've all said and see how that goes.
If they say no we'll just open a case. We're not in a hurry for the money and don't need it, but after nearly 6 years of custom and no missed payments, sorting out our own issues except when the boiler failed it's hard not to take it personally.
I'll let you know how it goes.We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.0
