The Nationwide cover is pretty good value when you consider *what* it covers; as a breakdown service it's quite comprehensive, as it's personal cover not vehicle-bound, there are no age restrictions, and practically speaking, since it covers up to 7.5T vehicles up to 8M long, as well as trailers, vans, motorcycles, etc, it's a nice simple way of getting very full-featured cover. The other Nationwide addons like travel insurance, mobile phone cover, etc, may be of value to some people as well.
For me, it was the fact it would cover the entire range of vehicles I own and drive without any hassle, age or weight restrictions, and across Europe.
There *are* cheaper options available, so it's just dependent on what's right for you.0
