We were flying LGW to Innsbruck Monday 29th Feb.
They had to shut the runway due to oil spiilage on the runway .

All though many of the flights which were due to leave around the same time only incurred a 1-2 hour delay but ours was 4+ hour delay We were told our incoming flight had to be diverted to Stansted .
Whats the chances of Easyjet paying up or will they blame Gatwick

Will they blame Gatwick? I'd be amazed if they didn't. What did they tell you at the time? You mention that the incoming flight was diverted. Were you given any reason for that? Was there a problem with the plane or was it simply a case of the Gatwick capacity being 'full' (in turn, possibly as a result of the spill)? Were other incoming flights landing when yours was scheduled to arrive?
I think you need to do some serious analysis of flights in and out to see whether EJ were doing better or worse than other airlines.0 -

Try putting your flight details into a couple of the NWNF delay calculators. That will give you an indication of whether compensation is claimable.
The spillage and resultant delays were caused by a Virgin fight so it could be that they are culpable.
It's an interesting one. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0
