Hi - can anyone help with a hotel in Bangkok please. Travelling with my son and daughter (for his 21st) and need a hotel for a 2 night stay in Bangkok. I wouldn't quite say that the cost is no problem, but I want it to be memorable and special. We want to be able to get to the sights and places to eat easily as we only have the two days before moving on. Any suggestions?
Thanks

One of those hotels with a roof top bar for cocktails and views at sunset.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Our favourite so far is the Marriott Courtyard, if you can get a corner room its worth it.
Nice area, close to the Skytrain etc.0 -
We stayed here & it was probably one of the best hotels I ever stayed in https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293916-d305496-Reviews-Rembrandt_Hotel_Bangkok-Bangkok.html0

We stayed in the Rembrandt recommended by DUKE 2 years ago, & it is undoubtedly a very nice hotel.
however, for a wow factor a river view room or suite at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers is amazing.
Overall, I would say the Rembrandt is a nicer hotel than the sheraton, but the river view suite we were in had floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the river. Just awesome.0 -
Just thinking aloud.
Do you want to stay in a hotel that...
- is reasonably priced, in a vibrant and safe area, and that makes you feel as though you're in Thailand; or
- a big expensive chain hotel that could really be in just any big city anywhere in the world?
Unless you are going to use all the facilities in a 5* then it's a waste of money imo.
What sort of sights do you want easy access to? What sort of food? And as it's your son's 21st birthday what does he want?0 -
I'd say the riverside area suited me personally best. I've stayed twice in Bangkok & much preferred this area. The Lebua had an offer on when we stayed, it's all suite which may be better if there's 3 of you. Nice rooftop bar & the best breakfast spread I've ever had. This was around 6/7 years ago so may have changed.
Try using tripadvisor forums & search for the best hotel rates. Also skyscanner for comparing prices.0 -

Easy to end up with a short-list of hundreds, and still pick completely the wrong one.0 -

I suppose it is but the forums in particular are a good resource for information. I never, ever book a hotel without checking reviews on t/a. If you put some time & effort into research you should avoid any disasters. Hopefully0 -
Not a huge fan of 5* places, I've spent months in various hotels and 5* just means everything costs more.
In Bangkok llast time we went we stayed at the Davis Hotel http://davisbangkok.net/ which was perfectly decent, spacious room (huge by London standards), has an airport transfer service, is in a 'Thai area', walk to skytrain, plenty of taxis nearby, etc. I see some discounters are listing rooms there from £44, which is good value.0 -
I would have thought that the last thing that a lad would want on his 21st birthday in Bangkok is to hang out with a parent and sister in a fancy hotel:D0
