O/S Daily Monday 7 March 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now light, damp but drying up underfoot, bit blowy too, sky is clear so probably cold but bright start to the day.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early. DS1 now using up some leave, so he’s having a lie-in. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, stuffing, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, Yorkshires and gravy – it was eaten and enjoyed by us all. Dinner tonight will be the veg fried rice, noodles and ribs that I bought for Saturday night that didn’t get eaten. Had a lazy afternoon yesterday after prepping and cooking lunch and making sure pack ups and clothes/uniforms were sorted for today. Watched the tennis – haven’t watched such a good and exciting game for ages, both players were excellent, but pleased GB eventually managed to win.

Back to work today – don’t know what that will bring – last Monday we weren’t that busy, then on Tuesday it was manic, not sure what will happen today – if the council tax bills have started hitting the mats we’ll be busy, but I don’t think that will be happening just yet. I’ll be pleased to finish on Wednesday as I then have some holiday to use up, so I finish on Wednesday and then not back until Mon 21 March then of course that’s the week leading up to Easter, so we get a long weekend – but always a nightmare especially this year as Easter is so close to 1 April – our busiest day of the year, every year!

Keep safe and well x

Morning all, thank you nmlc for starting the thread. Cold here but clear and the weatherman who lives in my tablet says that the sun will shine so I will give the washing that went in overnight an extra rinse and peg that out.

I am coming to the end of my leave year so am officially off this week but will do one job this evening as refusal would mean a delay affecting others. Then the remainder of the week will be my own.

I shan't be joining my family for the evening meal, perhaps have a sandwich or something when I finish.

Monday already? Where does the weekend go? Anyway, it was a good one and it looks like the sun will be shining again today. Sadly I don't have any washing!

Usual stuff here, trying to get to grips with my new working day, I have to get up half an hour earlier but seem to wake up before the alarm so it was 5.30 this morning, I'll get there.

Have a good week. Take care. XX

    Morning all

Didnt hear the men scuttling round this morning as they got ready for work but did wake when hubby called up the stairs to say goodbye. I'm awake now but still in bed and will be until the heating comes on in just under an hour.

Good news. My friend (and fellow MSEr) from the early days had her baby yesterday. I don't think she posts any more so you wouldn't know her but I'm so happy for both her and her husband. I've said for years they will make wonderful parents.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone.

Low white cloud still, don't think it'll lift today.

Got the flooring men coming this morning, they shouldn't be too long, and the CCTV men too. All or nothing as usual.

When I came upstairs last night I spied another pile of papers which I should have added to the bonfire yesterday - so annoyed with myself. If the weather stays dry I'll do it after the various workmen leave.

There's a white load of washing to do today and it'll need to go on the airers. Then I'll get packed for another visit to Glasgow tomorrow.

I hope everyone is doing well or better.

    Happy Monday.

Morning chums ,wide awake this morning ,even though I was reading until 2.00a.m..I am one of those folk who once awake has to get up I have never ever just turned over and gone back to sleep I wish I could really.Still it means I can get an early start and get a bit more done I guess.

This morning is 'healthy living walk' which will be around our local park, one of the chaps on the walk comes with his wife and suffers with Parkinson's so he walks with difficulty with his walking aid ,but bless him he still does it and I think its brilliant . And we have been watching all the bulbs come up over the past few weeks so fingers crossed they will all be out today.Sun is up and shining but still a bit of a nip in the air so it will be warm coat and scarf for me just in case:)

HM butternut squash soup for me at lunchtime with some reduced fat pate and crackers and maybe an apple for later on in the afternoon. I shall have to have a rummage in the freezer for tonight's dinner, but I have lots of veg kicking around so what ever it is I am sorted :)

So pleased that by eating sensibly I have dropped a couple of dress sizes Youngest DD bought me a nice top and trousers for yesterdays M/D, and they fit perfectly Lovely encouraging feeling for all the effort in my dieting :):) so I am a happy old woman this morning, the sun is shining and I am a stone lighter than I was at Christmas
    Onwards and upwards
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing :):):)

Morning all. What a glorious start and, dare I say it, it feels less cold! And sun is forecast for the whole day!

Mr TA was going today for his fortnightly blood test (result to go to Liverpool) but as it promises to be such a nice day he may leave it till tomorrow. Then today we might have a gentle walk somewhere. If it incorporated a late pub lunch too that would be even better!

There's a good amount of chicken and veg left from yesterday which was earmarked for today's dinner but, if we do set off somewhere, it would always keep until tomorrow! It would be a shame to waste such a lovely day!

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx ETA Well done JACKIE. Wow a stone since Christmas!

Cold but bight here meant to rain or snow later though, we will see, off to work for me the start of another long week its my seven day shift so I shall be glad when its over.

Took Evie out yesterday and again she loved it, she was playing with a staffie pup who was three times the size of her but they had such a good game, she also had a bath and is now a ball of fluff !

Got a beef casserole ready in the sc which I will put on after this should be nice and tasty once we get in tonight.

    Morning all,

Nice blue sky here but a bit breezy, hopefully it will dry the washing. I have whites in the machine at the moment and then it will be the darks.

Carpet fitter is coming today to fit stair carpet and laminate in the hall, it sounds very hollow going up and down stairs at the moment with bare floor boards.

Jackie well done on the weight loss, you must feel pleased with yourself, and of course it is always nice to have new clothes.

We are just entering the fourth week of our 8 week blood sugar diet and I have lost almost a stone, but the main thing is I feel so much better. My blood sugar has now come down to a good level and the same for Himself..

TA and Jackie enjoy your walk, I think at least it is going to be dry but cold today.

We have the rest of the beef tonight, it was lovely, with beautiful gravy made from the juices and lots of veg.

    Have a good day all

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY RR:bdaycake:
