Hi HG,
I need to book an airport hotel. I have found it cheaper on alpharooms but it says alpharooms special rate. Have you experience in claiming back? And if so do you think this would cancel it out?
Thanks for any further advice x
ellie, I'm pretty certain that special rate/sale rates on other websites don't count. I've read that over on the DIB, where I got the info from.0 -
Have you tried all the obvious and not so obvious sites? Are you looking for h/p together? I got theirs separately. I couldn't get lounge access but they wasn't bothered as hotel included breakfast.0

Hi ellie,
I have had them rejected when it says 'special' or 'other discount'.
See below
T&C's
So, if you can find exactly the same product cheaper within 24 hours of confirming your booking with Holiday Extras, it's yours for FREE* (the few applying terms and conditions are listed below)
Reclaiming your money is really easy. Simply fill out this form https://holidayextras.wufoo.eu/forms/free-if-you-find-it-for-less-claim-form/ or call us on 01303 815308 and let us know. And that's it.

HOW TO CLAIM
If you think you have found the same thing cheaper elsewhere, call us on 01303 815308.
NOTE: BT landline calls cost up to 10p per minute. Calls from mobiles and other numbers may vary.
Please ensure that the parking, hotel and parking, hotel only or lounge product you are comparing is identical in all respects and that it meets the terms set out below. ANY VARIATIONS MEANS WE CAN NEITHER MATCH THE PRICE NOR REFUND THE COST.
TERMS & CONDITIONS (AIRPORT PARKING, PORT PARKING, AIRPORT HOTELS, PORT HOTELS AND AIRPORT LOUNGES):
1 - Our guarantee only applies to the principal parking, hotel and parking, hotel only or lounge product you have booked. Please note that when comparing products we do not take into account any ancillary products or recommended extras such as dinners, breakfasts, car washes etc you booked with your principal parking, hotel and parking, hotel only or lounge product. If the package includes breakfast and compares to a cheaper one on another site that includes breakfast, that's fine. If you add it on then it's not comparable.
2 - The principal parking, hotel and parking, hotel only or lounge product under comparison must be the same in every respect, including parking and valet parking by the same supplier, as that which you purchased from Holiday Extras, and the same cancellation terms. This is very important.
3 - Where multiple rooms are booked each room is regarded as a separate product.
4 - You must make your claim within 24 hours of making and paying for your booking with Holiday Extras. Always, always take a screenshot of competitors price, if possible from a couple of sites. I find claiming on line is better as they have to respond in writing. If they are wrong (has happened, you can chase it up by phone afterwards. It's easier to get fobbed off if you phone first.
5 - Successful claims will not be paid until after the return date originally booked.
6 - You must use the products as per the booking against which you are making your claim.
7 - Cancellation of the booking cancels your right to claim under this guarantee.
8 - Comparison prices must be listed and quoted in pounds sterling.
9 - Our Free If Guarantee will not apply to price-differences of 50 pence or less.
10 - As Holiday Extras is a travel business specialising in the provision of travel add-ons such as airport parking, airport hotels and airport lounges, our guarantee applies only to products purchased as part of a customer's holiday plans. The guarantee does not apply to our products purchased on a standalone basis, without any onward travel plans. Accordingly, we reserve the right, when considering a claim, to request evidence of your travel itinerary.
11 - The principal parking, hotel and parking, hotel only or lounge product under comparison must be on sale and we must be able to view the product details and price before we will accept your claim.
SORRY, BUT OUR GUARANTEE EXCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
1 - Insurance products
2 - Coach travel
3 - Car hire
4 - Theme park breaks
5 - Prices that include ancillary products or recommended extras such as dinners, breakfasts, car washes etc
6 - Prices from other suppliers conditional on buying other products
7 - Prices that are part of a customer loyalty, members’ or loyalty reward scheme
8 - Prices that are part of a staff discount scheme
9 - Prices that are part of any other discount or special offer deal. However, in the event that you find a lower price through such discount or special offer deal within 24 hours of confirming your booking with Holiday Extras, we will match the discounted rate you have found.
10 - Hotel-with-coach products
11 - Hotels or parking in the Republic of Ireland
12 - London city centre hotels
13 - Rail packages
14 - London city centre parking
15 - Overseas lounges
16 - Packages with different cancellation terms
17 - London theatre breaks
NOTE: When calculating, we consider only the price of the principal product booked (excluding ancillary products and recommended extras), not additional fees or charges e.g. credit card surcharges.
The obvious differences that most people seem to fail on is 'identical'. ie twin as opposed to double room, no cancellation booking/opposed to one that can be cancelled.
I always take out their insurance for cancellation, incase it doesn't compare. (Haven't used it yet) approx £2.49. They refund me that when they refund the hotel/parking/lounge cost. They are very prompt in paying it back after you have used the service.
If alpha have got special, check other sites because sometimes they don't use the word special. Check with a site like
http://www.hotelscombined.com/
or
http://www.hotelscomparison.com/
Hope that helps.
Good luck.0 -

Situation is a bit complicated - flying from LHR to Dublin, overnight there, then DUB to MCO via LGW (there is good reason behind this apparent madness). We can't decide whether to leave the car at Heathrow for ease when we go or for convenience at Gatwick when we get back. Hotel with breakfast was good - well done :T
No immigration lines.:D:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Just getting one for October.
Do you hire your car from Avis? (Through BA is usually cheapest). If so, have you joined their loyalty scheme? It's excellent as you get a free upgrade and go straight to the car park at MCO to collect your car. No long lines in the airport. Usually on your way within a couple of minutes.0 -
Volvic Touch of Fruit Lemon & Lime 920ml or Strawberry & Raspberry 920ml 49p in M. Not getting onto the list as we've had much better on glitch from A recently, and also remains more expensive than 1L other flavoured waters at 33p in Aldi/Lidl.
Volvic Water Sports Cap 1L 43p in M, but not available in A:(. Therefore, in the event, not getting on the list - but mentioning it just so you don't overpay in T - they are 85p and 2 for £1.50 there:eek: - and won't pick up M's 43p if they have it as RTC. Highland Sports Cap 750ml is 41p RTC in M so avoid buying that in T as well!0 -
davemorton wrote: »Not waffling at all FloFlo. I would add to P&O that their bar prices are very competitive. I found the staff on Royal Caribbean friendlier than P&O, and their food was good too with more up to date entertainment, so worth a try if you get a chance. (And if you get the cabin with the cows bottom, you get a free BJ every day
)
Moving onto Sainsburgs, does anyone know if wine counts as one of your 10 items please? Also, how much brand match do you get per bottle of coke, as dont want to go over the £10 limit. TIA
:rotfl: I do still love P&O but don't drink (hardly ever) so don't really notice bar prices other than soft drinks, which we took on at Southampton with P&O. We also much prefer a Southampton sailing over flying. Haven't tried Royal Caribbean but would like to, Princess staff were the best we have experienced (except for our first Carnival room steward) the entertainment team especially were so lovely - first time I have ever sought out an entertainment manager before leaving to give praise to.0
