Broadband and line rental contracts end at different times - what to do?

I'm currently on an unlimited fibre package with broadband, and have just received an email stating that my line rental is due for renewal in May. They are offering me a 10% reduction if I renew for 12 months, and a 15% reduction if I renew for another 18 months.
I've checked with TalkTalk and my broadband contract with them ends in November. Which puts me in a bit of a situation. If I purchase another 12 or 18 months of line rental then it kind of ties me into TalkTalk for that time (as I'd lose either 6 or 12 months' worth of line rental if I move to a new provider, which usually requires a new line rental purchase).
The alternative is to pay the increased rate or 17.70 per month for line rental until the end of my TalkTalk contract and then look elsewhere or try and negotiate a better TalkTalk deal.
What are your thoughts? I've no qualms with TalkTalk as a provider (other than the multiple losses of personal information by the company!!!).

The usual answer is two choices pay ALR or not .
As you say paying ALR now will over run your broadband contract .
End of broadband contract you negotiate a new deal or move ISP and lose your remaining ALR payments .
If i intended to stay i would pay in advance .0 -
I had a contract with 12 months advance line rental and 18 months broadband.
I phoned up at 11 months and came out with new 12 months contracts for both.0 -
I'm in same situation as you soldave. My LR ends April but in contract until end September.
Dont like the LR and call/BB package ending not co-inciding
Not sure how to go about this one?0 -
The contracts don't end, only the minimum term does. Do nothing and you move to a 30 day notice contract. The only change will be an increased bill if you are on a limited term introductory discount for the first x months. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Agree with Macman, you are not obligated to renew your contract. At the end of the minimum period it is changed to a rolling 1 month contract.0

If you want to stay with TT then it makes little difference .
If you want to leave then some providers have schemes to buy out or assist you to buy out of the contract so you can move both your services to them with one 12 month contract.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
