eFlorist - Mothers day catastrophe. Am I alone?

Well I am facing another year of being a useless son who doesn't think of his Mother on her special day.
Ordered flowers from eFlorist on Friday for a Saturday delivery. I thought I would get in early the day before Mothers Day just in case they were all too busy and my order was left waiting.
Payment went through, confirmation received, everything looking good.
I waited in anticipation of the phonecall from Mum on Saturday expressing her delight at the bouquet of specially selected Parasol selection complete with glass vase.
Sadly nothing, no phone call.
I waited until this morning to call but she had no knowledge of any flowers even after recruiting nearby kids to race around the neighbours asking if anyone had took them in.
Reading the small print, I am expecting eFlorist to try to dodge the bullet and blame a local florist (the particular code for my order suggests a Local florist will produce/deliver it)
Am I wrong in feeling a simple refund is not good enough? I've missed the day, nothing arrived so even arriving tomorrow, may as well go in the bin.
I don't want money back, nor do I want compensation, I just wanted the flowers to arrive on the day selected (or even the day after in this case). If there was a problem they COULD have had the merest ounce of decency and made some kind of attempt to inform me so I could make other arrangements.
It's only 13:20 so perhaps there is a slim hope left they may arrive yet, but they were supposed to be delivered yesterday, and Mum knows so the element of surprise is gone.

Well the promised call back from their highly trained staff repeated the same story as the flower delivery, i.e Nothing.
The email I sent at the same time of posting my comments above have been equally ignored.
The only good news so far is my Quidco tracked when I placed the order so perhaps I will still be in line for my £6.81 from Quidco. But on balance, I expect eFlorist will fail to pay that too.0 -

What do you want them to do, if not a simple refund? They can't turn back time.
I'm sure your mum will be understanding and happy to receive flowers tomorrow. Then when you get refunded you can use the money to buy her an additional treat.0 -
I was let down by eflorist too. Have used them a few times in the last year and everything has been ok but like yourself asked for delivery yesterday and nothing. They turned up today late afternoon so mum is none the wiser but i wont be using them again. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

I assume you are referring to the fact that you couldn't plan more than 1 day in advance for some flowers to arrive on a made-up yearly holiday?
I just hope that you aren't as useless on her truly special day (ie birthday).don't want money back, nor do I want compensation, I just wanted the flowers to arrive on the day selected (or even the day after in this case)
Well then....0 -
It was always Interflora for me when I bought flowers, in a real shop with real people, never had a problem!0

I want them to have some bad publicity and hopefully others will be dissuaded from using them. Not because of the simple non delivery, more because they cared so much about this customer, they didn't even have the courtesy of letting me know.
In this case, customer satisfaction came a poor second place to their profits.
Like ali-t I shall not be using them again.0 -
A "simple" refund simply skirts over the problem.

Then you have your resolution, you've left negative feedback for anyone to read if they wish.
Next time maybe a local independent? They do still exist.0 -

I'll second this - every Valentines Day and Mother's Day this board and the consumer rights one sees a mass of e-mails complaining about flowers not being delivered or not matching the description.
I'd suggest if you can't buy and deliver them yourself in person, avoid sending flowers on these days, when florists are always overrun - send them on a birthday instead, or just as a nice surprise at any time of the year. And look up an independent florist local to the recipient on something like yell. com and order directly from them.0 -

If you really thought Mother's Day was that special then you would have made the effort to go and visit your Mother, spend time with her and then you could have personally delivered the flowers to her.
Visiting a website and arranging flowers to be delivered and then awaiting a call from your Mother so she can say how great you are isn't really anything to be proud of!. I'm sure she would have much rathered that you went and saw her!.0
