I know a postman very well, he doesn't even start work till 8.40am, they generally don't go out on deliveries until 10:00am and are done by 2.00pm ish...
Regular rounds are just not done much anymore in general he is sent on different rounds and even to different towns weekly, don't get me wrong he'd love to do a regular round but just doesn't happen, why ? no idea.....
And most staff are now only on 12 month contracts so turnover is high...
I think it is to do with privatization and cost reduction.
But please don't blame the postman/woman most work very hard i know this one in particular walks up 13 miles a day 5 days a week, with 14kg bags, come rain or shine...he's just trying to do his job.0 -

Flexibility.
RM historically had fixed staffing in units in FT contracts.
Thats circa £20k a head whether on holiday, off sick or in the building.
There is still a high FT staffing base, however this is being reduced annually.
The 'old' set up was simply non viable for a profitable business.
Unfortunately some people still think there should be 2 deliveries and anything less is simply a poor service.0 -
I've always been lucky with post - both receiving it and posting it. 1st class arrives the next day and 2nd class usually within 2 days. I have no idea what time my post arrives during the day as I'm out at work.
I live not too far from a major sorting depot so not sure if that makes a difference.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 20140
