We never get a regular postman /woman never two days the same.

It's so maddening

Privatisation is happening, costs getting lowered throughout the organisation, services streamlined to no longer deliver twice daily, etc. I'm sure your postman would also prefer regular routes, but there must be some reason why it's not happening, maybe sickness cover.0

We have had only for delivery for years now. Postman can come at any time, always after lunch. A friend once said her postman came at 7.30pm, it was the postman because he knocked the door to get something signed for.
Spoke postman earlier this week about something I was waiting for. He told me it was manic almost like Christmas at the sorting office. I had a small packet 1st class signed took 4 days to come.0 -
Don't get me started on this bunch of cretins, should just rename it to Royal Fail and have done with it...
I regularly order stuff online (we're talking like 3-4 deliveries per week) and the amount of stuff that goes missing is beyond ridiculous.
Last year when I used to sell on eBay I was regularly dealing with 2-3 lost claims per week - at one time I had 12 claims going at the same time.
I did a small test of sending 10 1st class letters to a friend all on the same day - 2 arrived next day, 5 arrived the day after and 3 (yes 3) disappeared off the face of the earth.
Our regular postman is a nice guy, but the one who fills in for him is next to useless - we regularly get our neighbours mail and vice versa.
The mothers day card I ordered 4 days ago for my mum (sent 1st class) has failed to materialise today, which means I've spent the last few hours dashing about getting another card.
The man who works in our local sorting office must have had all joy removed at birth and is the most miserable and unhelpful sod I've ever encountered.
Absolutely useless bunch of halfwits.
I avoid at all costs when possible (even if it means buying something off another website/seller for a higher price just to avoid Royal Fail).0 -
Its not privacy to blame .
Royal Mail has been going downhill rapidly since the mid 80s .
Most of my post was put in the box in Halifax at 5pm and on my doorstep around 7am next morning . This today would be delivered hopefully between 11am and 3pm the next day .0 -
I am an ex postmistress and was always In the firing line when customers used to ask me where their mail was ? It took all my patience to explain that it was a separate company and to take it up with Royal Mail. So glad I am not there anymore Light travels faster than sound.

Missing or delayed mail must be dependant on the area that you live in (I have only ever had to report one parcel missing that i sent). All my mail arrives within the time frames expected and first class almost always comes next working day, second class sometimes comes next working day too!. But I wouldn't use them for anything other than letters or very small parcels because they arnt competitive for larger parcels.
I have no idea who our postman is and I have no idea what time they come but I wouldn't expect the person or time to be consistent.0 -
My mail arrives pretty much the same time every day, no complaints. It's nothing , not nothink.0

Lol mid 80's?
You realise how long ago that was?
So everyone in the UK got mail at 7am?
Why do you deem between 11am & 3pm a poor service?0 -
We use to have a regular post person who appeared around 10am every delivery day. He then disappeared last summer and now we have three different people who come around 11 - 12pm every day. I don't have any issues with Royal Mail, I guess I am lucky!0
