    Did you or the third party involve the police in your accident by any chance? Your OP does not say.

    These claims management companies just push up costs. The car hire charges are inflated and they seem to do very little for what they are being paid. I guess the insurance company gets a backhander errr..... referral fee.

    Except a claims management company arranged by the third party Insurers is there to keep costs reasonable for all involved
