Hi my note 3 is on its last legs.
I'm looking for a sub 200 pound sim free smart phone / phablet 5-5.5 inches.
I don't like apple, Nokia, blackberry or Motorola
I'm thinking nexus 5 because I never used the stylus or liked the Samsung add ons.
But
- will 4.95 inches will feel notably smaller for streaming I player for an hour?
- is battery life poor?
- will the phone feel laggy with the latest android software compared the original OS 2 years ago that it came with
All my phones were eBay 2nd hand
Note 4 was going to be a natural upgrade. I had one for a week once and it felt slower opening apps than the 3. They're around 250 for a great condition one.
Nexus 5 are around 150
Possibility of a nexus 5x compromise..not sure what they're ending at.
Any ideas appreciated please.

Nexus 5 has been updated to Android 6 Marshmallow
It has a feature called 'Doze' in which the battery hibernates
Even then like most smart phones you will need to charge daily if your a heavy user
My Nexus 5 is 2 years old now and is as quick as ever0 -
Did it come with doze?
Does screen feel small for watching TV for an hour?
I'm used to charging phone In the Day as I do check emails etc and so always have a charger or powerbank
My note 3 battery drains quite badly now
I saw that nexus 5 had worse battery than note 3
Is nexus 5x a massive upgrade. ..same price as note4 on ebay0 -
As I said above, the Marshmallow update on all nexus 5's has the feature called doze
Watching Tv for an hour is Ok but 5.5 or 6 would be better
Remember the battery on a 2 year old Nexuis 5 is not replacable easily
So if you can afford it get a new 5X with a brand new battery
£300

Note 3/4 is Samsung with Samsung crapware installed
Nexus 5 & 5X are pure Andriod with no pre-installed crap

I'm leaning to a nexus 5x..larger screen for TV, faster, better battery. Can get for 230-250 on ebay and they're pretty new.
I'm not convinced on nexus 5 battery life and not easily replaced. Shame really.0 -
I agree, go for 5x
