One Year Old Car Not Reliable - Contract Hire
Comments

Hi Adrian
It wasn't user error. It was contaminated diesel. It's been tested and we know pretty much what it consisted of. Best guess is that someone was filling their supply tanks with hooky fuel. I have no idea where either. I travel all over the country and could have picked it up anywhere.
Are you au fait with contract hire agreements though, as that is the subject of discussion here?
Thanks
I would suggest looking closely at the place you filled up prior to the issue.
As it is unlikely to have been diesel you used that prior to that with the engine running fine.0 -

I don't know if the totally new model has been released yet, but the original shape vehicle was really one for enthusiasts or those with at least some mechanical knowledge.
Really?
Never heard that.

Perhaps I did Adrian. However short replies always tend to leave a bit of room for interpretation

I agree and don't think rejection is the answer here. So far the only option open to me (and it is a very slim one) is that the dealer MAY take the car as they are desperate for Defenders, given their current sales value. I am keen to stay in Land Rover although definitely not a Defender, so they should keep me as a customer.
Despite that though, the ongoing repairs and faults make my car unusable as a daily mode of transport on which I rely. I need to be able to get out of this car. That's the problem that I'm trying to work out.
In my experince Land Rover and Jaguar look after their customers better than most.
You are never without a car for the first three years thanks to Land Rover Assist or Jaguar Assist providing a few hire car.0 -

Not once.
Nor I
I have heard
"A Landrover will break your heart- and your wallet" many times though.
I've had 4, and they are definitely an enthusiasts vehicle, as they need constant fettling to keep running properly.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

No answer on the Land Rover Assist situation?
Which means you are never without a car for more than a matter of hours and they deliver to your door or to the dealer.0 -
Where they all brand new like the OP's?
No, I'd rather buy a house with the money than pay new prices for a LandRover.
However, the rate they go through replacement parts I doubt if it matters much
They happily do starship mileages, but you've replaced half the running gear by then, whereas the pre- 2003 LandCruisers would do the same mileage with just oil changes and new tyres.
I do know someone who bought an 03 Freelander new, the ones where they suffered from abs computer failure, it had two under warranty, and had to go when it went the third time.
I don't think the viscous coupler had gone though

I didn't mean a whole house, but If I'd had 25k to spare, I'd have put 22k into reducing the mortgage rather than a car.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
