I have a similar problem with fizzy drinks and get stomach cramps and bloating. I tend to drink milk (luckily no problem with dairy) or water now but I was out for a meal yesterday and couldn't make my mind up what to have and I ended up with a tomato juice with Worcestershire sauce.

Maybe veg juice is the way to go but I guess you would have to buy a juicer as I'm sure you can buy tomato juice but I don't recall seeing any other veg juices for sale ? (I shop mainly at Aldi)

Hot infusions - mint, lemongrass, ginger or other herbs can also be drunk cold.

Ginger cordials with still or sparkling water might be worth trying too as they are fruitless. If you make them more dilute so you get more water for the same sugar.

    Have you tried:
    dandelion & burdock
    spasparilla
    cream soda
ginger beer (best of all the home made stuff)

I live local to the remaining temperance bar run by these folk, and they've influenced what the local supermarkets stock - cream soda is *easily* sourced here!
I note they also sell online - hoping that (although not very MS) you find something else to drink?!

Carrot juice? Very cheap if you have a juicer, and some of them can make nut milks too.

This may sound daft, but I find the glass I'm drinking out of makes a difference.

I usually drink plain filtered tapwater, but I prefer it out of a good quality glass - it just doesn't taste right out of a big chunky beaker.

Purely psychological I know, but I thought I'd add it to the mix.:o

    Thank you all :)

Herbal teas I have been trying, just its taking a while to get through them as there are many days I don't trust myself handling boiling water as I don't want to scald myself.

elsien, Lemonade is not safe as almost all are either real lemon juice (which makes me ill), or not fruit juice and lots of sweetners (which make me ill).

CJ, Skint Yet Again and Honeywitch, I love the idea of vegetable juices, that may be a way forward for me. I suspect I would also be able to prep this is a batch and freeze portions (pre- or post-juicing).

Pigpen, I know I react to almost all fruit commercially available - I love fruit and am really annoyed that this intolerance is reacting so badly now. Strawberries, raspberries, orange, lemon, apple, pineapple, kiwi, lychee, physallis, grapes, peaches, apricots, bananas, blueberries, blackberries. I love them all and they all cause me huge amounts of pain. Hi-Juice has real fruit juice in it.

LW, I do the same with glasses :)

Dig for Victory and Theoretica, thank you, I will definitely investigate those options.

GQ, hmm that is a good point, sometimes I don't need lots of fluids and sometimes I need min. 3 litres a day (yes Ive been to the Dr, no I'm not diabetic :) )

Cucumber in water is supposed to be nice. Personally I can't abide cucumber so its not one I'd try but may work for you?

You could try ginger, herbs like mint, cucumber. I didn't see cranberries on your list - they might give a tart, refreshing drink. You'd probably need to break the skins and steep in water for a while.

Herbal teas don't need boiling water - hot but not boiling will work as well, just leave it to stew a bit longer.

I second the suggestions about chilling water - infinitely preferable to tepid water.
But do persevere with the plain water - you will become accustomed to the taste and it's much better for your teeth than all the sugar in fizzy drinks, fruit juices.
