Acutally, Norton's lastest products; 360 & 2008 are moving in the right direction.
Nortons previous products like 2005 & 2006 where heavily bloated, frequently crashed computers and had poor detection rates - and I'm talking from experience.
Symantec have learnt from their mistakes and customer feedback and have built 360 from the ground up to minimise system resource usage. Whilst 360 & 2008 are a step in the right direction, they are still someway off products like Kaspersky and NOD32 in terms of detection rates etc.
Give Norton a few more iterations (assuming they carry on moving in the same direction) and their software should be great.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

Personally I'd change from McAfee to something else, if you want free then I've found both AVG and Avast to be better at using less system resources and the main thing, better at virus detection. Just because you can get it for free, doesn't mean you should use it. I used to use McAfee for years for free and I can still get it free (not through Natwest) but I still would never use it again with far superior products out there, even freeware.
I currently pay for NOD32 which I've found to be the best so far."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
