Cannot get photo ID to contacts

Just bought a lenovo A816 mobile (second hand) and have tried to include a photo as ID without success.In the Gallery, I select a pic "to contact photo", tap on the particular person in list of contacts, the photo comes on screen again, click save but the photo fails to appear.

    try the other way. Select the contact, click Edit then search for a Photo

    Co-incidence or what?. I also thought along those lines and guess what? it worked. I know it's easy to ask " ask a friend" but when you resolve it yourself and then "the friend" comes up with the same solution, it is so much more rewarding. Thanks.

    Just found a good android app but it only allows five photos then you have to pay, but cannot find the price, this is it Full Screen Caller ID maybe if you use it, you might tell me please
