http://www.digitalspy.com/tech/smartphones/news/a794014/android-pay-uk-is-coming-as-pret-a-manger-spills-the-beans-on-launch/:Not only is Pret a Manger accustomed to providing your food in a fast fashion, it's shown it can roll out NFC systems with just as much pace. Maybe a little too much, actually, as the picture below indicates.
Despite official confirmation from Google still being MIA, the coffee chain has already begun adding Android Pay signs to its payment terminals, with tags reportedly arriving overnight.
The launch of Android Pay seems to be imminent.0 -
My money is on it being announced at I/O as "available immediately".0

Does having this mean we can pay with Amex in a shop that doesn't take it if they have contactless?
Unfortunately not, shops will need to still accept Amex for it to work first. Reason on the shortage of Amex acceptance is short and simple which is the fee they charge is considerably more than Visa/Mastercard.0 -
Android Pay is now available in the UK.
Have been using Apple Pay since last July however you guys already have one up on us; you can add your loyalty cards to the wallet whereas us iOS users have to download apps. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
It is available now as I have just downloaded it from the play store (only to find my two banks don't support it yet - should have looked at the list of banks first I guess!)0

I can't figure out how and it's really annoying me :rotfl:
According to Google's Help section on Android Pay:
You can store a digital copy of your loyalty, reward, and membership cards for thousands of merchants in Android Pay. When you're ready to check out at a merchant, simply touch the loyalty card you want to use on the app's home screen and let the cashier scan the barcode.
To add a loyalty card:
Open the Android Pay app.
Touch the + sign in the bottom-right corner.
Touch Add a loyalty program.
Search for the merchant or program name and select it.
Capture your barcode with your camera or enter your details manually.
Touch Save. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Tried it out a couple of times today, and got it working eventually - bit of a pain trying to line up the phone's contactless chip with the reader though. Took me about 10-15 seconds of waving it around to get it to beep and go through on each attempt..0

Yes, when I logged onto Nationwide this morning it says it's now available, I haven't downloaded the App yet as I'm away from home but once I'm back I will do and give it a try.0
