Android Pay launches in a few weeks(?)

What makes that Android Pay? Why not put up a link to the relevant App?
PS Your phone needs a charge...
It looks like Android Pay.
Maybe Nationwide has enabled support early in the run up to the launch, so US Android users (I'm sure it's possible in the UK too, but I've given up trying to trick Google into letting me get the app!) are able to add it.0 -
So I looked at the privacy policy on the Andoid pay web site and note it directs me to the general google privacy policy. Google's privacy policy boils down to them collecting as much information as they can in any way they can and using it for whatever they like.
I have never and won't ever be giving google any identifying information like a credit card number which would allow them to definitely associate a particular person (me) with all the other information they collect.
Google pay is even worse, Apple deliberately do not get information about the transactions - apple do not know what you bought. Google absolutely and deliberately do.
Last year Google tried to buy the company that runs Tesco clubcards. They would really like to know what each of the millions of clubcard holders buys.
I think google knows more about some people than they know about themselves. Seriously creepy.0 -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35874420:Google has said that it will extend Android Pay to the UK "in the next few months".
The facility allows any device running Android 4.4 or higher and fitted with an NFC (near field communication) chip to act as a tap-and-pay substitute for credit and debit cards.
[...]
Google said it had struck deals with Visa and Mastercard to allow the service to stand in for their cards, as well as several UK's financial institutions including:
Bank of Scotland
First Direct
Halifax
HSBC
Lloyds Bank
M&S Bank
MBNA
Nationwide
That still leaves several big names missing, including American Express, Barclays, Royal Bank of Scotland and Santander - but Google said it intended to add more organisations to the list ahead of the launch.0 -
Surprised to see NatWest/Royal Bank of Scotland/Santander aren't on board yet given they were one of the first to support Apple Pay last July.
Not so surprised at Barclays Bank given any qualifying credit card customers with compatible handsets can use Barclaycard Contactless in their app. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Does having this mean we can pay with Amex in a shop that doesn't take it if they have contactless?0
-
-
No. The store will still need to support Amex contactless. It's the same on Apple Pay.0
-
No official word from google only a article in the independent newspaper and it's nearly the end of the month I doubt it will be launching anytime soon you can download it now if you want just download the apk file but no uk cards will work with it0

HSBC and First Direct now advertising Andriod Pay on their sites. They say they will be one of the first but no date as yet. The fact the ad is so prominent on FD's site I'd be surprised if it's that far away.0
