Well done you! Thank for the link to spending diary which is a great too, albeit scary to see how often boots comes up in my case!! Petite clothes are a nightmare! Wonder if there's a link between being a DFW & vertically challened! Mind you being a size 24 petite weeble was a nightmare! Great that the infection is gone but go gently as the ole bod takes a while to recover! Just wanted to say well done & keep up the good work!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! HI JD
Just caught your thread, waht a great idea to be clutter free. How I wish!
I moved in with OH about 5 years ago and as we both had our own homes before that so you can imagine the stuff we had. Nevertheless a ruthless sort was called for but we still have too much of everything I can honestly say that we don't really need to buy another thing for the rest of our lives.
We've books galore but they're off limits for ebaying and such.
But we have too many tolietries which are always topped up my well- meaning relatives at birthdays and Christmas. Cd's and general kitchen stuff galore
PLus my mother keeps getting "little presents" for me even though I tell her we have too much stuff. Sounds ungrateful I know. I asked for magazine subscription for my birthday but that wasn't deemed exciting so I ended up with another nightie and a pair of slippers. I don't wear nighties (I prefer jammies) and I already have two pairs of slippers. But only one pair of feet!
My OH is a teacher and I own my own business and the paperwork just adds to the general clutter in our lives. Why isn't there a huge skip when you need it?????5th May 1973, 3.31pm Porterfield Heaven:j :j

Hi Jamie
hope everything went okay with the flooring for the kids room. Been taking a leaf out of your book and decluttering a bit before xmas. Sent two bags of stuff to charity shop. Now just need to sort out some books for amazon.(I have a [STRIKE]bit [/STRIKE] lot of a book buying problem :rotfl: )0 -
Hiya JD,
Loving this thread! Keep up the good work!
Just wanted to ask, what kind of books do you sell and is selling on Amazon very easy? I sell stuff on ebay but have stacks of Uni books (a good few years old now) but thought I may be able to sell a few of those. Do books tend to sell better on Amazon? Am I right in assuming it is a bit like ebay, just no end date on the selling of the item?

morning all:)
made the spag bol....delish! 8 portions for the freezer!
the boys lino looks fantastic! they did a really good job! how easy to clean!!!
kebabmeister - i sell my books on amazon as i find they sell better on there and there is no fee unless it sells:)
i have started on the xmas presents:) i have bought my dads and ds1 and some of dd's
also finished nephews bday prezzie and my sisters too. yesterday i made 20 xmas cards:D
unfortunately buying all that stuff means that the clutter free space is now rather cluttered again! but at least it will all be going by christmas:)
my biggest worry is christmas will bring rather a lot more stuff into the house:( after all my hard work in reducing the junk! i will be getting rid of more cr-p from dd's room over the next few weeks to make room for xmas stuff as she is only 3 there is bound to be a lot of it!
will keep you updated on my progress....November NSD's - 70 -
Hi JD
The Christmas stuff is puzzling. I thought to myself as I was shopping last year that there was such a proliferation of cr-p that there must be some huge warehouse it lives in during the year until the Christmas season comes around. That includes the stocking filler stuff that the shops seem to stock so well. Guilty as charged as I did buy some of it for my friend's kids.
The last few years my parents and myself have set a £20 limit in Christmas presents whcih works quite well. It makes you think a little harder about what to buy and I wouldn't be upset if it was in the form of books or wine!!!
However I bought my parents 50 fruit trees from the Oxfam catalogue which was an unusual gift. I bought my sister 50x school meals for kids in the Third World which was inexpensive compared to trying to find the year's 'perfect' gift at the local shopping centre. And a bit more responsible I think5th May 1973, 3.31pm Porterfield Heaven:j :j

Hi Donner
I finished my degree 7 years ago and was left with some texts I don't think I'll use again. So I listed them on Amazon this week and one has sold. It was a weighty tome that cost me £25 and I got £5.50 back for it. But in the spririt of the thread it's a little less clutter around here, I won't use it again and someone else will get the benefit of it. It was a 1996 edition but I don't think it will have 'aged' that much in academia5th May 1973, 3.31pm Porterfield Heaven:j :j
